Wouldn't have helped Romney very much, and as Nate Silver pointed out during the V.P. speculations last month, he's not even well-liked in his own state of MN. He has negative approval ratings there and Nate says Obama would have actually gone UP in MN if Pawlenty was chosen!

Because if your metric is 'Mitt would be doing better' than there is no choice that could have helped him. If the metric is 'less damning to the Goopers as a whole' then perhaps you are correct. They'd still have Mitt, no VP choice changes him into another, less mendacious and obnoxious person.
