Good grief.

And people wonder why I haven't been seen at DU in a while.

Chriminey.

Sorry.

I just came to vent and hide. Sorry if I disturbed anyone. I will just crawl back into my cave where at least the moss appreciates me. Cheers, fellow loners.

Love, peace and shelter.

What the heck, it's like you have to suit up for battle before you log in. Makes me sad.

I do think the troll count has gone up, we're just drawing a slightly more sophisticated bunch of them. When some creep tries to get under your skin, just realize it's a troll and that if you continue to feed a troll, you get covered with troll shit. Look at the post as potential troll shit and move on. The worst thing you can do to a troll is ignore him.

I'm watching a repeat of the 2008 Hillary War gear up again. I'm hoping they start to divert all the Hillary posts to her group soon and lock them in GD. That will increase the level of the repartee right there.

that is fine.
but viciousness such as exists on DU becomes a bore imo.
and eventually people who do not enjoy viciousness leave, and those who enjoy it (or tolerate it) stay,
so the cycle continues and indeed gets worse.

I also see the value in people being allowed to engage hammer-and-tongs when they disagree.

When things get personal, at least DU provides a bit of relief in the form of ignores and the jury system, although I think the latter is in need of improvement.

I read that on a thread last night and had to rewrite my reply several times before I finally thought it wouldn't get hidden, I was fucking steamed.

The lower paid ninety percent of American workers are "nasty and selfish", what the fuck is going through someone's head to say such a thing? I talk to the kid who cashiers at my local convenience store when I go in for milk from time to time, I know damn well he's not union and he's paid a pittance, he's always nice and friendly to me but a DUer who has never met him thinks he's "nasty and selfish".

I guess the closer we get to vote time the more agitated & wound up like rubber bands folks will get. I am sorry you had to go through those exhaustive machinations.

This place can be so much fun.

And full of knowledge, soulful personalities.

Thanks for the reply.

in general the internet anonymity promotes rudeness.
I notice that forums where people sign in with their names tend to be much more civil.

DU I would say is the rudest most vicious place I've ever been, which is why I rarely come and even more rarely post any more.
I put that down to lack of moderation.

to my post, I had to prepare myself for abuse-
and sometimes I'd be mad all day at some jerk's posting.
I can't believe I did that for as long as I did!
that was silly.

I like facebook.
the only comments I get are positive ones.

even when people disagree with something I say they are kind.

being on du is like opening your house to strangers, and most of them psychotic.

anyway.. I appreciate you expressing yourself.

I'm ok after I make it down the steps of my home.

I've removed weatherproofing plastic from half of the windows. It's really surprising how much sunlight a very thin layer of Frost-King blocks out.

I've cured myself of GD, now I have to stay away from Latest Threads or I take a wrong turn and end up in the miasma. We have a new Cannabis Group, if you are interested.

Perfect acronym for it, gd, lol.

The can club looks great. I wish I could help with the toffee, was it? I may have been in the cooking group.
Any way someone who was talking about edibles. I would be all over baking that sh*t if only it were legal here.

I may have to move.

Thanks so much for the reply.

They are making fun of "old people" (boomers!) in the BERNIE SANDERS group. Why, he is even older than me.
And on Mother's Day, too!
