Hurricane Hilary strengthened to a Category 4 storm on Friday as it moves toward the Southwest. The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm watch for areas of Southern California.

It's expected to weaken before hitting California, though officials warned of major rainfall and winds. Still, the National Hurricane Center is urging residents in the region to prepare for major rainfall, high winds, and possible flooding through the weekend and into next week.
