Advances in materials science, distributed algorithms and manufacturing processes are revolutionizing robotic materials. Prosthetics with a realistic sense of touch. Bridges that detect and repair their own damage. Vehicles with camouflaging capabilities. Advances in materials science, distributed algorithms and manufacturing processes are bringing all of these things closer to reality every day.

Camouflaged cars. What a wonderful idea. NOT!

they invent a way for many of us to have money to buy basic necessities and a way to have a secure and comfortable place to live.

Do they have the algorithms for that, yet?

I used to wonder and marvel at new technological advances and they would inspire me to think of a better future.

In my old age, now that there is nothing left, it comes down to a question that is like a sliver in my mind: For who?

The movie, Elysium, captured the distribution of much of the new technology well.

With the waves of new automation and robotics coming in, many of us, (including some professionals) will become obsolete as workers. That means we need a much different economy, (Guaranteed Basic Income, for instance) or its all to hell in a handbag. Either most of us die off without help, or we keep receiving nudges to the cliff...or maybe we just get pushed off in droves?

Else there wouldn't be so many of them get run over by car drivers that "never saw them".

Motorcycles had day-lights in early 70s to help drivers see them better. Then some idiots convinced auto manufacturers and 'safety' mavins it would help makes cars easier to see. And, again, cycles are drowned out. Fkn idiots
