Missouri rabbis say voting by mail is a religious imperative after their governor bars the option

(THIS IS THE JEWISH GROUP! RESPECT!!)

Dozens of rabbis in Missouri say they have a solution to the increasingly divisive political issue of whether voting by mail should be allowed because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Most states allow residents to vote by mail for any reason, but 16 do not. With restrictions on large gatherings in place to curb the spread of the disease, longtime advocates for voting by mail say it’s time to expand the option across the country.

But President Donald Trump and Republican governors and legislatures have said expanding the vote-by-mail option would increase the chances for fraud, citing little evidence. (Researchers who study voter fraud have generally concluded that it is rare, though a few high-profile cases have been documented.)

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is among the Republican officials to oppose expanding mail-in voting. He argued during an April 14 news briefing that it was inappropriate to make changes to voting rules because of the pandemic.

Clever! Use their own "freedom of religion" club against them! Of course, there are those who will attack this news because it is Jews doing it and it is OK to use non-sequiturs to attack all Jews because one once fucked a Jew ("some of their best friends" defense), so you just know the "criticism" is on the up and up.

Frankly, this could have some really good outcomes in allowing a variety of those traditionally disenfranchised the ability to vote. Perhaps, we will even see an increase in voter participation.

In one synagogue I briefly attended, members were instructed to bring their ballots in, pre-signed so the elders could "help" fill them out. Who knows who got the votes. (I declined and moved on.)

I am sure mega-churches will do much the same. Massive vote gathering will occur.
