So to get a thread like this on the DU3, what's your denomination?

We had one on the old forum when this group started.

I currently go to a church affiliated with the Association of Vineyard Churches. It's an evangelical movement and often quite conservative, but this church isn't. It's full of progressive-minded young people and is such a wonderful place, I love the looseness of worship and casuality, it's such a change from the rather stifling ritual-driven stuff I was forced to go to as a kid.

9. I'm not much into religion but at your church....

I learned that the neo-Platonist philosopher, Porphyre, was pronounced either Pro-fire or poor-fire-eee. I get Confucius-ed.
Anyhow, he put forth the notion that even dogs had souls, because they possessed a degree of intelligence. It's a shame so many people can't make that same claim.

Born and raised. My particular congregation is pretty liberal, as is our current pastor. We are Reconciling Congregation, and have been for a long time.

13. We're not a reconciling

though I wish we were. (Just too small town right now.) We have a number of very liberal members, though, and are very proactive in our community action/services.

There are very few reconciling congregations in the state of Missouri so it's not surprising that we're not one of them. I know of at least one, in Kansas City, who will not marry anyone inside the church walls until the state grants the right for all to marry legally inside the church. I really like that about them.

5. I'm Bi(-denominational, that is...)

I'm a priest in a small "Independent Catholic" denomination that seems to have gone a bit dormant, but may be starting up a new parish -- or reviving a defunct one -- in the Seattle/Tacoma/Olympia area this coming year. Meanwhile, my family and I are Episcopalians, the denomination in which I grew up.

Grew up Presbyterian, and was even a church elder 10 years ago. But have spent the last 15 years or so doing a lot of reading and self study. I now consider myself somewhere between Quaker, UU, Episcopal, and Buddhist.

There are elements that I admire about each of these denoms/paths, but at this juncture, I don't feel a pull to commit to any of them.

very conservative branch (The Anglican Mission in America) but our church is a great mix of liberal & conservative. I love the people and its the reason I joined.

15. Currently going to a UCC (Congregationalist.) I like the church very much, but I think I might fit

in even better at a UU. (Or maybe not any church at all. I am pretty darned near agnostic these days.)
