A Florida business that was apparently pretending to be a church has lost its tax exemption.
When you picture a typical church, what comes to mind? If it’s not "naked paint parties,” then you would probably side with Florida officials who recently revoked the tax exemption of a “church” that appears to have been a nightclub trying to skirt tax laws.
The Life Center: A Spiritual Community is registered as a church in Panama City Beach. And with thousands of college students in town for spring break throughout the month of March, it seems the church decided to take advantage of the situation by hosting parties seven days a week.
The Panama City News Herald reported that besides “Anything But Clothes” naked paint parties, the church’s website also advertised slumber-party Sundays featuring the “sexiest ladies on the beach” in lingerie and “Wet n Wild” Wednesdays with a water theme.
The church charged a $20 entry fee, which it billed as a “donation.” Inside, the walls were covered with T-shirts showing stick figures engaged in sex acts. Other shirts read “I hate being sober,” the newspaper said.
