Bentonite clay for COVID-19??

I've used this in the past to "detox" my horses but had no idea it had a suggested use for fighting COVID-19. Before going on line to order more I updated my research. According to research, including NIH studies, Bentonite clay is a treatment for diahrrea induced by the coronavirus and the respiratory infections caused by the coronavirus. I'm not going to post a lot of info -- merely putting this out there as an alternative and something to have on hand if anyone experiences these symptoms with the coronavirus. My cost was $25 for a pound and humans use is 1 tsp/day. My caveat is to make sure you purchase calcium bentonite clay food grade. There are sodium BC products on the market but sodium BC is mostly for industrial use.

BC is also known as montmorillonite clay, which is a finely ground clay, kaolin clay, which is a finer ground clay.

Lastly, while the site info is from 2016 (I think) the FDA says not to purchase the brands "Best Bentonite Clay" from Guthrie, OK or "Bentonite Me Baby" by Alikay Naturals, although I went on their site and it is no longer listed.

When I've used BC in the past I alternated between French Green Clay and BC.

Do your own research and make sure, if you're on other meds, that you follow the guidelines: 2 hours before or after RX or 1 hour before meal.

1. Clay is a known detox. Parrots eat clay to detox deadly berries. It's the clay, not the bentonite.nt

3. There is nothing in the record about Bentonite clay

acting as an anti-viral medicaton. While it has been used to treat diahrrea, there is the possibility of harm...

Covid-19 is a viral infection of the lungs.

Almost all other symptoms are caused by our own immune system reactions coupled with an inability of our T-cells to recognize and destroy the virus.

8. Just because your search did not expose the use of BC does not mean that a deeper search

wouldn't uncover studies. I suggest looking at retrovirus/SARS/coronavirus in any future search.

4. I take bentonite every third day.

Not for covid, but for detox. Been doing it for years. I also gargle with a diluted solution of hydrogen peroxide and water when I feel a sore throat coming on. Make sure to followup by gargling with fresh water to wash the gunk out. My dentist told me about this years ago & then a few weeks ago I read that gargling with peroxide might help fight covid, but it wasn't a study, just an article on a medical site, so who knows. Still, after we go out to get groceries, we both gargle.

Potential here with BC because docs now are reporting systemic organ damage & that people are dying from kidney failure.

9. Involvement with kidneys is what started me on this search as I was looking for a way to

further support/"detox" the kidneys in one of my horses and I knew BC was good for this.

BC is also used to reduce high cholesterol in humans. IMO if you you think you have COVID-10 and can take something that minimizes the devastating respiratory and gastro effects of COVID-19 you might actually survive.

6. kaopectate does the same thing.

benotonite clay has a bit of 'cache' to it, as it is a rare and useful clay for potters. it has a tiny, tiny particle size, which gives it useful properties.
kaolins are appreciated because of their obvious purity. any clay would do the same, it just might have lead, etc. back yard mud would probably do the same, too.

10. Yet you can't use keopectate when crafting a clay pot. The calcium BC will not contain the

contaminents of sodium BC as sodium BC is for industrial use.

12. Good Sunday morning, you likely do know more about pottery/clay than I do, however,

my thread discussed using calcium bentonite clay to address the side effects of diarrhea and respiratory infections as a result of COVID-19. Kaopectate, named in part for its kaolin content when originally produced, has not contained any kaolin clay since 2004. Kaopectate’s main ingredient since then is the clay bismuth subsalicylate. It would be helpful to learn how and if bismuth subsalicylate performs against COVID-19 in comparison to bentonite clay but that is not something I intend to research.

For treatment of non-COVID-19 diarrhea and respiratory infections my therapy choice is slippery elm bark, not geophagia.
