Related: About this forumWhy I Lack Enthusiasm About the Church
I'm an active college-educated young professional. I love Jesus, but sometimes I feel badly because I'm not excited about the church. I scan the congregants. As usual, mostly senior citizens and a few young families. A few sullen teenagers. These people don't know me, I think.
They'll never get me. Does God have to have me here?
Exactly 59 minutes later, we are all out the door. I am thinking the same thing I think every week - really, I didn't get much from that. The knowledge that my real spiritual high will come this afternoon, on a training run in breezy sunshine with my iPod and worship music, nags me.

(9,275 posts)Glad I went, even if I wasn't enthused about going in the first place or if I didn't follow the sermon. But I love my church and feel like I really belong there.

(21,046 posts)Xtianity is a primitive syncretic (made up from many pagan sources) religion that is not adequate for the 21st century. No matter how much they try to make it hip, the book of superstitious goat herders is not good guidance.
Maybe she should investigate living her life by rational values, not by praying to a God that may or may not exist.
I've never seen any evidence that god exists. I've seen no evidence that prayer is more than talking to yourself. Christians are the most negative people I've ever seen, and I avoid them. Which is very difficult to do.

(146,218 posts)Maybe she is lacking in choices, but I wish she could find a congregation that speaks to her and resolves some of the issues she has with her current church.
I predict a rise in the kinds of organizations that would better suit her and so many like her, but they may be very slow to come to some areas.
