Exotic dancers turn tables on church protesters

Table Dancers Turn Tables, Show Up To Church To Protest Being Protested

The dancers at the Foxhole in Coschocton County, Ohio, are used to arriving at work to the sounds of protests from members of the nearby New Beginnings Ministries church. But the same couldn't quite be said for the churchgoers, who showed up for services on Sunday and were greeted by the sight of bikini-clad protesters.

For the last four years, the pastor at New Beginnings has led a protest outside the Foxhole every weekend. Beyond just voicing their disapproval of the strip joint, the church members also videotape the license plates of the bar's patrons and then post the info online.

So the crew at the Foxhole decided to give the churchgoers a taste of their own medicine, sitting outside the church in skimpy outfits and cooling each other down with Super Soakers as they grilled up burgers.

<snip>
One of the Foxhole dancers, a married mother-of-six, says the protesters outside the strip club every weekend are ill-informed:

These church people say horrible things about us... They say we're homewreckers and whores. The fact of the matter is, we're working to keep our own homes together, to give our kids what they need.

This needs to be done in front of the Pedophile catholic churches. Shame those that support their practices of hiding the pedophile, including the Poop (pope).

The women are trying to make a living in a legal way so why won't the church leave them alone?

7. The church should leave them alone and I support their protest at the church.

I just think the idea of having them protest the Catholic Church, well, silly at best.

I was even living in the greater Cincinnati area when this happened, and I still didn't hear of it. Odd.

I remember when this came out but it was not covered in the Cincinnati area. I originally saw this on DU! I have lived in Mason, OH since 1988. I am glad you were able to get out of here!

12. I don't think it was publicized much in Ohio...

it would go against the rightous bullshit attitude of Ohioans in general, espcially in SW Ohio. Oxford is closer to Dayton than Cincinnati but not much goes on in Dayton. Cincinnati is okay but I could think of 10 or 100 other places I would rather be.

MU is an interesting school. The faculty is somewhat liberal but the student body is rather conservative. I was a big supporter of WMUB but that went to the wayside with budget cuts. It was too bad because WMUB had some great local programming.

I didn't even know that MU had a college radio station. I lived there for two years and never heard it once. Apparently, it was only available over the internet or something. The tiny little Catholic university that I sometimes work at as an adjunct has a radio station that kicks most bigger schools right in the ass. In fact, when I'm home in PA I either listen to that or NPR, no commercial radio in my car at all!

It is still on the air but under the control of the WVXU group in Cincinnati. MU walked away from public radio. The change occurred about a 2 years ago.

When I think of college radio, I think college students playing music. I don't think public radio. WMUB was still on the air, and WVXU was still bitching about Xavier dropping support. Unfortunately, when I was in grad school at SUNY Buffalo, we also had a public radio station instead of a real college radio station run by students. Not that I'm complaining about public radio, but how about letting students get some air time? I love listening to that, especially when the student DJs aren't so good!
