Jehovahs witnesses leave their kingdom hall behind.
It took about a year before they were ready. That was about 10 years ago and they are thriving socially now.
One went back to school to study law and the other owns a successful contracting business.
They were shunned by everyone they knew, the only people they really knew all their lives because of it. I think the mother of one of them finally came around and talks to her son again, much to the dismay of her husband, who is an elder.
I planted the seed when they showed up at my house one hot day while they were out pioneering. I didn't start it but I could tell they weren't happy. They stuck together and I helped them online and hooked them up with ex-JW forums and stuff. Taught them how to hide their online interactions from spies that would check on their online presence. One had a laptop with nanny software that I helped to disable. The things they told me were terrible, but the thing they were most scared of was being shunned for apostasy. It happened, but they were prepared because I pointed them in the right direction and got them in contact with hundreds of others who went through it. They deserve all the credit, I was more of a middle man. The devil. They are warned about people like me from a very early age. They absolutely do not trust people like me.
I did it pretty good. I used words and asked questions that a JW could relate to at first. They thought I was lying when I said I had never been a JW. I told them I knew some exJWs and they told me all about the organisation and it started from there.
