What are you playing?

Yesterday during our snow storm, got in a game of The Cruel Seas ( World War Two Miniatures Coastal Warfare) and 3 rounds of Guillotine card game.

Friday I ran a game of One Hour Skirmish Wargame Rules using 25mm figures.

All I could play were the little games on my iPhone: Solitaire, Scrabble, Backgammon and my favorite, GL Golf.

Still, slightly boring and the cancelled flights were infuriating.

I was playing Defiance a lot. I enjoyed the group play. there were many people playing. I stopped playing that game because its support seemed to be lagging.

I tried Warframe again, and for some reason, I liked it this time. the only short coming I can see is: if you like large group type raids, you won't get them in this game. So far it appears to be only 4 person teams. Which is still fun, but I do miss the massive group attacks (50 or more players) of Defiance during an "event".

Yeah, it's a lot of death and mayhem, and the storyline a bit thin, but the gunplay is a blast, and the looting fun, not a grind. Incredible amount of 'stuff to do'.

Visually it's also pretty incredible and runs smooth (30-75fps, usually hovering around 50) on my Radeon Vega 56 at 3440x1440 at mostly 'High' with a few 'Ultra' settings. The environment of Washington DC is apparently really accurately done as well. Basically the WH is your 'Base of Operations' in the game.

....still a little steep as it is new, so $49.99 but I had about $30 in CC points on my Amazon Chase card so it cost me $30.

The reviews lead me to believe I was getting a Steam code so I could play it right away this last weekend, but no, they are mailing me a DVD/CDROM version.

I have played Tropico 1 (release date 2001) thru 5 so far...

..or better Tropico 4 for $8.95:

Tropico 4 sees you return as El Presidente, the tyrannical (or benevolent) dictator of the island paradise of Tropico. The world is changing and Tropico is moving with the times. Tropico 4 features all new missions across new maps and includes exciting and fun new features to keep the action fresh and challenging. You can even elect ministers into power to help get your more controversial decisions passed through the government. But remember to keep your friends close and your enemies closer as everyone has an agenda! Tropico 4 also brings a new level of social interaction with the addition of Facebook and Twitter integration (PC version only). Post comments on Twitter direct from the game and have updates go out when you complete missions or unlock new achievements. You can even take screenshots of your island and post them on your Tropico 4 Facebook page and compare your interactive Dictator ranking on the online leaderboards. Every little bit helps when you are bringing your island into the 21st Century!

Amazon.com
Tropico 4 is a single player Strategy-City Building game in which players again take on the role of El Presidente, the dictator of the island paradise of Tropico. As in previous game releases in the franchise, you must take full control of the island, and in charting its path be and be seen by residents as anything from tyrannical to benevolent. Features include: a new campaign consisting of 20 missions across 10 new maps, 20 new building types, new interactive disasters, national agendas, a trading system, Facebook and Twitter integration and much more.

Doing some 6mm armies; Macedonians, Achaemenid Persians, Indians, and Thracians, all based for DBA/DBMM. Might try to make a Skythian army from some of my leftover light horse as well.

Black Seas (Cruel Seas in the age of sail) is mightily tempting me, but I need a new project like I need a hole in my head.

Superb! I got into Cruel Seas just because of the scale. The rules are great (once you completely rewrite them, which we have done they are posted at the Cruel Seas - The Dock Office Facebook group if you are interested as The Old Salts Variant in the files section).

I have recently drifted into some 25mm as I reacquired my Colonial Era Boers & Pathans from a fellow to whom I had given them years ago when going through a nasty divorce. Just ran a One Hour Skirmish War-game Rules American Rev game over the weekend.

Played some Blood Red Skies recently and found it's okay, but I'm not investing any money in the system.

I have heard the Black Seas is good, but I play Limeys & Slimeys (free rules on the internet) with 300 scale paper models from The War Artisan and like you mentioned don't need another project.

sort of on the back burner at the moment, which is Malaya/Singapore 1941 for Chain of Command. I backed off because the terrain required is going to be a bear of a task. All that jungle! The good part is that when it’s done I’ll be able to re-use the terrain and Japanese for a Burma 1945 game with the addition of Sikhs and Chindits as well as Guadalcanal with Marines. There should probably be some variation in Japanese uniform for the differing theaters but the changes would be minor and I’m just not that picky.

I used to do British vs Pathans in 15mm with the Sword and the Flame rules. The good old days!!

but as you say, once the terrain is assembled it will have multiple uses.

Although I am sure others will disagree, The Sword & The Flame are really the ONLY rules for the Colonial Period.

Played in a 15mm game a few years ago at the convention in New Orleans. Absolutely got my clock cleaned but had a blast!

Very demanding graphics-wise though for how it actually looks ... which is ... nice ... but not as nice as it should for how hard it's slamming my GPU.

Also, just bought Monster Hunter World as it finally went on sale for a great price on Steam when I had a couple bucks laying around ... Yui will be proud of me
