It's Steam Sale Season!!!
It's that wonderful time of the year when my wallet cowers in the corner and begs for mercy because Steam sales are on. So, my fellow gamers, what have you acquired during this most wonderful time of the year?
I've been pretty good so far, only got Just Cause 2, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky and KOTOR.
But today's a killer; Deus Ex Human Revolution is mighty tempting...

I already picked up New Vegas during the summer sale, but I have yet to play it (just finished my Fallout 3 replay with all the DLCs, only took me 3 months 
. I am missing some DLCs though that weren't out yet last summer, which I'm picking up.
I've played Amnesia and it's a great game, I recommend it. Penumbra: Overture I've started, but so far I haven't really gotten into it. I also have Dead Space 2, which I still have to download and play.
I can also recommend the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games; they're not really horror games per se, but they do have some horror style bits, but they do have some of the best ambiance that I've ever come across in games. Just make sure to set the brightness so that nighttime is realistically dark.
As far as graphics cards are concerned, if you have a desktop, you can probably pick one up that is capable of running the games you mentioned for relatively little money. I don't remember Amnesia being a particular resource hog. My rig is four years old and has an nVidia GeForce 8800GT, and I've yet to come across a game that I have trouble with; I guess that's the lone upside to the consolification of PC gaming, it stopped the hardware arms race.
One of my best purchases i suspect, not tried new vegas yet but am looking forward to it.
for me fallout 3 was much like oblivion, the game itself was average at best, the mods made it shine
I wait for the sales myself A game has to get below the 70% discount for me to forgive how limited it must be if it was released for a console.
But mods even make Bethesda's titles of Click now (1 or 2 or 3) enjoyable
I truly feel sad for console players these days, the hardware is getting so much closer to PC...but never enough... the gap between an intellivision and a TRS-80 model III was there 30 years ago, and is still around.
Why pay a console price when you get get a PC +power supply + graphic card for same price that will outlast it for years?
Was it the vanilla version or the Game of The Year edition (with all the add-ons)? As I mentioned before it took me 3 months to slog through the GOTY version!
I've never used any mods for Fallout 3, are there any particular ones you recommend?
I also tend to wait for sales to buy; I hardly spend any money except for those 2 or 3 times year when the big sales come around. The only game I've pre-ordered in recent years is Portal 2, which was totally worth it.
I agree about the consoles; the only reason I'd like a PS3 is to be able to play Skate and NCAA Football, because those games aren't released on PC (grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!! 
). For everything else I'm happy with my PC, but then I've always been a computer gamer; I started out on a Commodore 64, graduated to an Amiga 500 and then to the various 386s, 486s and Pentiums.

So i am sure i am missing quite a bit 
But Bethesda is always a bit light on content anyways...hehe
Did get the Oblivion Goty edition, i think it added maybe 12 hours or content, and a prettier horse.
I loved the storyline and the setting, but I thought the game was completely unplayable.
The weapons felt underpowered and useless (an unusable machine gun? seriously???), sneaking was tedious to the point of being painful, enemies running in random patterns (without any regard for physics or anatomy) while shooting at you... the list goes on. I just remember loving the world, but finding playing through the game a tortuous experience. If they could have given me the Deus Ex story with Half Life's game mechanics, then I would have been a happy camper. I guess I played too much Half Life and expected perfection from all games...
As if I've not already trampled my gamer street cred enough, I'll even say something positive about Invisibile War: lots of songs by the kidneythieves! 
Anyway I'll definitely get Human Revolution, thanks for the recommendation.
If you say that it runs fine on a Core 2 Duo, then it should run on my computer. I was able to pick a Core 2 Quad cheap last year after the original processor (a Core 2 Duo) in my computer pooped out. So there is hope! I might have to pick up SR2 soon...
I've been toying with buying the GTA complete pack on Steam when it was on sale for €7,50, but given that I already have the older games and my misgivings about GTA IV, I never did. I love the older GTA games starting with GTA III (never played the original top-down ones), but somehow I have never been able to bring up much enthusiasm for GTA IV. I guess the long delay of the PC release, coupled with the fact that it's supposedly a resource hog and all the hoops you have to jump through just to play just kinda soured me on it...
Plus my friends bought me a retail copy of GTA IV, and I have the vague suspicion that it's the Italian dubbed version, and I prefer playing the original version.
well game and 2 expansion packs, but you hardly notice the Xpacs anyways.
One of the few games that come so close to the ultimate empire game, then falls flat on it's face since every game will always be the same (expand, forget development of empire,strategy or tactics (T stands for time) just throw things till you get next logistics node).
Still it is fun, and once you learn that technology is pointless, ships are worthless...errr right there you just flushed 90% of a game down the crapper.
It can be enjoyable
for me it has almost everything a RTS can have, shame it is so and completely focused on zergling for resources...if you go in with a lead boot<only recomended strategy,>. you will be fighting in all the star systems to conqueror (it not matter if you win them, tis a zerg fest in the end).
It really is not as bad as it sounds, and then much better! but even worse, LOL i suspect it was built to satisfy the zerglings, and even with that it is a damned good game, but it could have been so much better
on a fun scale it definately rates a 8.4
if you actually play a bit, that rating drops down to a 7.1 but still fun (if you enjoy taking the strategy out of RTS)
