World of Warcraft seems to be getting the movie treatment after all, following wave after wave of doubt surrounding the project. It should start filming in 2014, and the previously stated 2015 release window still seems to stand.

Speaking with Slashfilm, producer Charles Roven said, “First quarter 2014 we’re going to shoot that movie. We’re moving forward; obviously [studio Legendary Entertainment] is making that film and I’m having a great time with Duncan.”

Moon director Duncan Jones is directing the adaptation. What do you think about the project? Should it be happening at all? What stories could it involve? Let us know below.

1. I'm curious if the story for this

will run concurrent to the stories we've seen over the past 4 games and expansions, or will progress the story even further into the future.

As much as I'd like to see an adaptation of the first 3 games, it's been done to death over the past 20 years between all the books and materials.

2. Maybe they will prove me wrong, but I suspect it will be horrible

Aside from rare exceptions like the Lord of the Rings Hollywood has not done well with he fantasy genre, they have done even worse with videogame adaptations. Maybe I will be proven wrong, but this looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

3. The fact that it is this game and not Bioshock getting the film treatment saddens me

The stories behind either Rapture or Columbia are far more worthy of Hollywood's attention than any MMO there is. Not even Valve is doing it yet with the Half-Life franchise, and they want to!

What's the value in a WoW movie when you have topics like those two franchises to pull from?

In late January, Duncan Jones (who directed Moon, Source code) is declared to take up the post of adaptation film director based on Blizzard’s game World of Warcraft, which has been plotting for a long time.
　　As it’s expected, when Jones and producers together for future development of the film production plan at the same time, related news has been very little. When first announced that Jones is the director, people thought that film will be filming began in late 2013, with the hope that it will be released in 2015.
　　But the film to be on the movie schedule seems to have the new variables. “ To be release at 2015, the possibility still exist,” the producer Charles Roven indicate that Search for World of Warcraft currently planned to be taken in the beginning of the year in 2014.”
　　About the World of Warcraft movie
　　Although at the beginning, the film’s name is set as Search for World of Warcraft, not only because the awareness is higher, but also because that the plot of the film setting is original from the stand-alone version of World of Warcraft, and the main content is “Rise of the Lich King”.
　　Under the plot settings of Rise of the Lich King, Alsace will be the spindle of the story plot. The prince of Lordaeron, when to save the people, is being used by the Scourge, and thus become the lich king. Sure that most of you are quite familiar with this series of story.
