I built my house near an oil well, because I thought it would be useful. Well, eventually I extracted the oil, because it was in the spot I wanted to build my pool. Long story short now I have a ton of oil in underground tanks that I have absolutely no use for! 
I need to get myself a flying ring, because the jetpack is too imprecise. But so far I haven't done much EE, except for a transmutation tablet to convert materials and a condenser to produce diamonds from the non-useful stuff that my quarry dug up. I haven't started on energy collectors and the likes.
I play singleplayer offline, but I'd be up for some multiplayer. Problem is I have no idea how to go about it (unless you count joining some random public server, where griefing probably runs rampant). Why is there no DU Tekkit server??? 
Well, I can actually get started on energy collectors now, since by mining in the nether I collected a nice amount of diamonds (over a stack). Diamond blocks from the nether yield two diamonds with a macerator, and with the mining laser and divining rod they're relatively easy to find.
Still, using diamond blocks kinda makes me cringe. 
I started off the industrial route, a macerator and a furnace, a solar/wind farm, quarries etc. I was thinking about building a nuclear reactor, but I don't really need it. So I'll invest into some energy collectors.
As server the servers, I'd love to try them out, so PM me the IPs. Thanks!
Yeah, the resources in the nether have a tendency to blow up, but I think that makes it kinda fun. With the mining laser you can keep your distance, and with the nano armor you take little damage anyway. Or maybe I just enjoy blowing up the nether! 
I have Tekkit, but don't understand it at all. I am definitely a Minecraft addict
In the beginning I also had no idea what to do with Tekkit. I learned a lot by watching the Tekkit series by Duncan from the Yogscast. Starting with video 4, he gives a pretty good introduction to Tekkit. He slowly builds up from basic machines to more advanced ones, and then later also goes into Equivalent Exchange stuff.
I found it very useful because you actually see how to do stuff (as opposed to just reading about it), and because he shows things in a structured manner, from the basic machines you can build in the beginning to help you along, to the more advanced ones, so you can follow along at your own speed.
You can use the Tekkit Wiki ( http://thetekkit.wikia.com/ ) to complement the info from the videos.
One thing to note: Duncan uses electrical engines for some things, which in the meantime have been removed from Tekkit. You'll have to use an Energy Link in their place.
