Best Games of 2011 (not counting remakes) in your opinion.

I'd say in this order.

The Legend of Zelda:Skyward Sword (Wii)
Sonic Generations (Xbox 360)
The Elder Scrolls V:Skyrim (Xbox 360)
Mario Kart 7 (3DS)
Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
Dragon Age II (Xbox 360)

Just my opinion. What say you DU?

Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.
Batman: Arkham City.
TES: Skyrim
Witcher II: Assassin of Kings. Great RPG, better than Skyrim IMO, though a different type of RPG.
Based on my beta experience, Star Wars the Old Republic. I'll know more about this come Tuesday, hopefully.

Heck, 4.2 was incredible, but 4.3 is AMAZING.

Did Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood come out this year or last year? It's the latest PS3 game I'm playing.

My son-in-law is totally into Skyrim, so I may play it when I'm caught up on AC.

The big two for me were:

Tiger Wooods PGA Tour 12: The Masters
Gran Turismo 5

Borderlands got a lot of playing time as well but I think that came out last year.

8. Portal 2

Loved that game.
And also Minecraft.

But then I'm usually behind on games, since I generally buy during Steam sales a couple of times a year, and I tend to go for last year's releases that I can pick up for a low price.

Running down the street from a horde of zombies, just to run into another group of zombies, is awesome.

Starcraft 2. Played it once, then put in on the shelf. Went back to games that are 2-12 years old.

I was a huge fan of the original, played for a very long time. I've been looking forward to playing it and am getting it for Christmas but... That could still be changed What was it that you did not like about it?

It seemed every scenario had a time limit (and not a long one at that). As such you can't build up a large base like I like to do. I read somewhere the developers decided to do this to break up the monotony or somthing like this but I like to take my time.

Man... I hated the single player campaign. Timed missions, restricted access to units, and freakin guard duty missions (IMO, the worst of the lot). I solved this by not playing the campaign... I would do multi player games with me as the only human and however many I wanted to play against set up as computer. I did also play with a few friends I knew but when playing single player, thats what I did and it worked out pretty nicely.

It's the most expansive, beautifully produced, freedom-soaked game I have ever played- and, given I've been an avid gamer since the Atari 2600 was brand new, that's saying a lot.

There are something around 300 hours of gameplay out-of-the-box, and that is not an exaggeration. It's more likely an understatement.

I only have a dual-core proc as of yet but figuring Bethesda's track record, Skyrim will take some time to get enough mods out there to make it playable just like oblivion was. I figure around may-jun I'll upgrade for it.

Really.

It's fantastic. If you do play one single game from 2011, make it Skyrim.

It's just breathtaking in size, detail, and beauty. This is a game that transcends the label of "video game" and very firmly enters the realm of "art".

and I didn't get it for Christmas. However, there was a very good RPG that was rereleased this year that I'm having an absolute ball playing: Baldur's Gate. Got the D&D Anthology Master Collection with BG I, II and expansions; Icewind Dale I, II and expansions; Planescape Torment and Temple of Elemental Evil. TOEE is the weak link, that's for sure. I know that doesn't count, though.

As for Skyrim, I have logged several hours in Morrowind and I'm kicking myself for not getting Oblivion at the same yard sale where I bought Fallout 3. It wasn't in the original case and I was worried that I'd be left without the CD code like I was with Call of Duty: World at War once.
