They obviously didn't take his last game in the playoffs to account. Unfortunately for him, if he doesn't win the big one, he'll go down in history as the player who couldn't deliver in the big games when it counted.

It goes to show how the game revolves around the QB more often than not. Good luck winning MVP as a defensive player! There is an award for defensive (and offensive) player of the year, however.

Any non-quarterback in particular you can think of who you consider deserving of being on that MVP list?

season, so might want to throw Eric Dickerson and OJ in there as well. The farther one goes back it becomes harder to seperate career accomplishments from single season. Lawrence Taylor at one pont perhaps.

Among receivers, Calvin "Megatron" Johnson still holds the record for most receiving yards in a single season with 1,964 (although Cooper Kupp came close to surpassing that mark in 2021).

Johnson's record was set in 2012. Unfortunately for him, Adrian Peterson ran for 2,097 yards that season.
