1. A pretty good landing spot

Dak usually doesn't play a full season due to injury. Lance might be able to prove whether he can flourish or flounder in a different setting.

5. Agreed, that Dallas, number three Grier QB really didn't look very good at all.

Dallas does have that Cooper Rush guy at number two who I thought was pretty impressive. My guess is that Lance will replace that Grier guy.

(and wait for Dak to get injured again)

2. Great news for this niner fan

One of the worst trades in franchise history finally behind us. Too much was expected from Trey from the get-go, considering his college experience and where he played. Hopefully he'll have a few years to learn in Dallas and emerge a good player down the line.

6. Good for Lance, I am sure, it was a very sticky uncomfortable situation for him and the Niners. nt

8. Brock Purdy's rise was Trey's demise

We got screwed by drafting him so high, but getting Purdy as the last pick of last year's draft made up for it.
All in all, I think trading him now was the best outcome for both parties.

If Dallas develops him into the player the Niners thought he'd be, there could be some great playoff rivalries between him and Brock a few years down the line.

3. What a wasted draft for the niners

They gave up

2021 #12
2022 first round pick #29
2022 third round pick #101
2023 first round #29

In return they will get a 4th round pick after compensation picks likely in the 140s.

The NBA made a rule that you had to leave yourself a first round pick at least every other year because of the Cavaliers making stupid trades.

Lance will go down with Akili smith as one of the worst reaches for a QB with little actual college game film.

4. Wish him well. Should not have been drafted that high.

That was a lot to carry on his shoulders.

After investing three first-round picks and a third-rounder in the 20-year-old from North Dakota State, Lance almost had as many significant injuries (three) as starts (four) in his 56-completion tenure.

Lance appeared in eight games for the 49ers, the fewest games by a top-five pick for the franchise he debuted with in the common draft era (1967), according to the Associated Press.

Lance threw just 102 passes with the 49ers, had 318 attempts at North Dakota State and threw 322 passes at Marshall (Minn.) High School.

Posted a few days ago that the 49ers have found a lot of great players in lower rounds. They're happy to get to a fourth rounder.

11. Niners are probably looking to clear more money for the un-extended NICK BOSA, too!

Saving 5 Million in 2024 by trading Lance.

No one's sad about this trade. At least they got a fourth round pick instead of cutting him and getting nothing.
