Multiple reports: Ezekiel Elliott is being released

Maybe today, maybe not, but he has a huge contract and his performance no longer warrants it.

Eagles are releasing Darius Slay, too. Not as big a name but more important to his team the past couple years.

Both will be post-June 1 designations because it's more favorable to their cap numbers.

Once the 49ers LB realized it was a RB and not an OL at center he pretty much teed him up for a drive.

I get the cap move. Not a Cowboys fan but I see a lot of their games. It’s like they use him as a decoy rather than just wearing out the other team. Dak isn’t going to take them to a championship.

will give Josh Jacobs big money. Dude's a flat-out stud and I love his story, but RB's in the NFL wear out with heavy workloads, and those 2nd contracts for top-tier guys are sure pricey. You get a guy you drafted who just led the league in rushing yards in his fourth season in the league, and they expect top dollar. I think Zeke serves as a cautionary tale for the Raiders in this regard. Pretty similar situation, didn't work out well for the 'Boys.

But hey, at least we got (injury-prone) Jimmy G for relatively cheap so there's that.
