1. I think it's odd.

Is there any reason to think he will be a good manager? I have heard some buzz about him but what's he done?

When the Red Sox took. What's his name even though they knew he'd stink in hopes someone else would free up the following season. Who knows. Alex might have something, just never had the opportunity yet

All the opportunity in the world, a generous and patient ownership, and some great players. He just sat there in the dugout year after year, running sunflower seeds through his fingers and looking as if he didn't give a rip. (I'm sure he did care, but I felt as if I rarely saw even a flicker of emotion cross his face).
