After a barren 2016 post-season, Canadian fans see 5 of 7 NHL teams in their country playoff-bound

The Oilers, Flames, Senators, Leafs and Canadiens are in!

The Canucks and Jets didn't make the cut.

Last year marked the first time since 1970s that a Canadian team failed to reach the playoffs.

Here's the odds on the next Stanley Cup winner:

Chicago Blackhawks +450

Washington Capitals +550

Pittsburgh Penguins +800

Minnesota Wild +800

Columbus Blue Jackets +1000

Montreal Canadiens +1400

New York Rangers +1400

San Jose Sharks +1400

Anaheim Ducks +1400

Edmonton Oilers +1600

Calgary Flames +2500

Ottawa Senators +2500

Nashville Predators +2800

St. Louis Blues +2800

Toronto Maple Leafs +2800

Boston Bruins +2800

Coaching is a huge part of it, but we don't have the players, either. LisaM Apr 2017 #5

with a win!

It's tough for Detroit losing the best mind in hockey with Mike Babcock's departure last season. I think Babcock saw a better rebuild opportunity in Toronto with their depth of young talent. Detroit's road back to the Stanley Cup will likely be much longer.

Babcock only got one cup with the Wings. Once Lidstrom left, it was clear how much he'd been carrying the team, too. Babs was running on fumes the last couple of years. Also, I think he's no more than the second-best mind in hockey, because Scotty Bowman is still involved!
