(15,224 posts)I am happy to see Kent Desormeaux back in the saddle and doing well. He is one helluva jockey.

(41,692 posts)I love 10 /1 price on Mo.
Something is itching me this year...an upset this year?
This could be an old Jock like Gary Stevens winning the day type of race.
I got my closer in Exaggerator....so...I may go dollar Tri with the 3 above going first and second with a bunch behind them.
Or...I might just drop a Benny on one of them to win.
Damn good race this year.

(15,224 posts)No horse has ever won the Derby from the 17th position.
Point Given [I loved that horse!!!!!] was defeated in 2001 from the 17th position, but went on to win the Preakness and the Belmont.
Point Given was trained by Baffert and ridden by Stevens.
Gonna be awesome!!!!!
I'm picking Mor Spirit, Nyquist and Exaggerator with Whitmore (Victor Espinoza) in there close.

(1,611 posts)...Exaggerator. If it's listed as fast, I have a couple of horses that look good to me. I want to see the PP's and look at the running lines of a couple I'm not as familiar with. Get a race shape in my mind. I'm thinking fast early, slow late. A couple of the longer priced horses may try to go with Nyquist and leave it to a closer. I'm liking Suddenbreakingnews as of today. Best of luck to all.

Safe trips to all.

(41,692 posts)and dollar tri them with Suddenbreakingnews, Creator, Mohaymen, and Mor Spirit.
Kills me not to go with Mohaymen and if he wins I'll be kicking myself. I might---just might throw some type of insurance bet on him.
Good luck.

(1,611 posts)finished 1-2. I keep underrating Nyquist. He never looks that good to me and then he goes out and beats everybody that challenges him. He's sneaky good.

(41,692 posts)It was chalk. Missed my Tri with Gunrunner placing 3rd. Kicking myself cause I liked Gunrunner.
I think Suddenbreakingnews is the horse to watch here out.

(29,772 posts)May 6 and 7 look to be the perfect day for a visit to the track. According to the Weather Channel, temperatures will be between mid and upper seventies and the skies will be partly cloudy. May 6 could have a 40% chance of rain, but May 7 is looking a little better with only a 20% chance.
Looks like we are going to have a beautiful Derby day this year.

Kent might have started his run a little late.
