(81,893 posts)The US played like the old US teams. Little offense, heavy defense, little possession, and mostly counter-attack. They had little possession and would give the ball up way too easily.
They also didn't have the benefit of substitutions. Two guys injured in the first half and a third in the second half (Bedoya). Hopefully they can get it together for Portugal. They have a few days to organize on offense and defense. Some of the US rookies are in danger of being outplayed by much more experienced players.
And boy are they going to miss Donavan now that Altidore is out.
A win is a win. Hopefully they can smash Portugal. If they do that, they advance.
