amazing victories by the least qualified teams that I have seen.

(41,692 posts)The Spurs were awesome and gave the Heat everything they could handle... a couple of breaks and Duncan would have another ring.

(4,528 posts)I like LeBron and I think he is a very good player. He plays really good team ball. What I don't like is everyone including himself(today) comparing this team to the great teams. This is not one of the "great teams". I think Wade is really really good. I don't think much of Bosh.
I liken LeBron to Shaq in the way they commit a ton of offensive fouls, Both use their size in a way that if anyone else did it they would be called for an offensive foul. Watch LeBron use his lead arm as a battering ram and the walking. Honestly, Wade is more coordinated.
The beauty of Michael is he had finesse. He was ultra coordinated. There is little grace to Lebron.
This team is no way close to either the Bulls of the nineties or the lakers and Celtics of the eighties.
Does anyone not think that even today Kareem wouldn't dominate the league. He would make Dwight Howard cry(the best big man today?) Howard in my opinion is a little uncoordinated. To this day he has never developed a single unstoppable move. Think of Kareem, Olajuwan or even Ewing. They took the time and effort to become good offensive players.Offense is coordination defense is desire.
Kareem is a good 3" taller than Howard and there is no chance he would stop the skyhook. Who on Miami could do anything against him?
Think of the Bulls- Jordan shuts down Wade, Michael was 2" taller and a great defensive player. Pippen was as good of a defensive player I have ever seen. he would not stop Lebron but he sure would frustrate him. Rodman would make Bosh cry.
Think of the Celtics
Parrish, McHale and Bird up front. How would this Heat team have handled them. Not very well if you ask me. Matter of fact it would be a slaughter
Parish- 7'0
McHale 6'11'
Bird- 6'9"
Bill Walton off the bench as sixth man- The greatest passing big man ever and the best all around skills of any big man ever. Very clean player.
So, I think Miami wins tonight and I think LeBron is the best player around but I don't think this team is great.

(4,528 posts)But the size and these moves would still work today. Think of the Birdman, Haslam or Bosh. None of these guys have as accomplished moves or even the size. Birdman is shorter than McHale and Bosh basically plays small forward. If they had trouble with Hibbert can you imagine the nightmare of Mchale, Parish and Walton. I don't think anyone is comparing Hibbbert with any of those 3.

You really have no idea what you are talking about.
The Heat are a class organization through and through.

(16,113 posts)I made many jokes in the past about James choking in the 4th (they were deserved, at the time) and after last year I still wasn't convinced, but now I am. James has his shit together come crunch time. I'm not so sure about the other two superstars he plays with, but I don't recall their names and don't recall hearing them much during the game. Admittedly, I missed the first half, though.

(29,322 posts)from an offensive standpoint. Players are more than likely going to shoot their averages whether it's the end of 4th or midway through the first quarter. Just because they make it or miss doesn't mean they're clutch or not clutch. Crunch time defense is something that remains consistent and Lebron almost always plays top notch defense in the closing moments but he does during the whole game.
I always felt Lebron coming up short was way overblown. Also Kobe was given as an example but here is the thing about Kobe. He always takes the last shot and actually has a poor shooting percentage in those moments because defenses know exactly what to prepare for, Kobe taking the last shot. I remember a Christmas day game against the Bulls where his shot was blocked.
He also scored a shit load of points against Detroit in 4th qtr & overtime in the ECF. He's also made game winning shots and also shots that determine whether a team will be shooting free throws down the stretch or heaving & fouling.
