http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/07/16/knicks-probably-will-not-match-jeremy-lin-offer/related/But it looks more and more like Lin will be a Rocket next year. Multiple outlets are reporting the Knicks are leaning toward (or some say flat out) not matching the three-year, $25 million offer sheet Houston signed the young point guard to. The Knicks have until Tuesday night to make their call.
Who do we feel more sorry for?? The Knicks no longer having Lin-sanity or the Rockets for over-paying for Lin-Sanity??

(29,322 posts)Knicks should be fine with Raymond Felton and DWI Kidd. Plus they had a chance to sign him at 4-years, $24 million but took a chance that he wouldn't find a better one.
Houston is hard to say they over-paid. They badly need a point guard especially since Goran Dragic signed back to the Suns ( ). Plus he could bring a lot of dollars to the club if he continues to be internationally popular.

(47,581 posts)...from their attempt to overpay on the one-year rental of Dwight Howard?
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)since they were in discussions after they made this offer sheet to Lin about a week ago(the reported news today-yesterday is the Knicks not matching it).
Though I haven't heard anything for a couple of days so I think the Rockets gave up. Weren't they trying to involve LA somehow? Or am I confusing that w/ LA trying acquire Dwight by shipping Bynum to Houston?
I think LA should hold on to Bynum. Look for him to be the best center in the league w/ Nash at PG.

(47,581 posts)To give up that big a piece without the assurance of Howard signing a long-term contract...well, in my book, that's what I call a bad thing. They may (and probably will) trade Bynum in the future, but they should get back more than a one-year rental for him.

(29,322 posts)An extension is a sticking point in negotiations, require that Howard agrees to one in order to trade.
