(78,249 posts)The network is staring down the barrel of both TV sets in San Antonio and the one in OKC being tuned to the West finals, while everyone else watches reruns of "Happily Divorced" on TV Land.

(17,088 posts)They have a pretty good team.

(17,088 posts)They'll lose their stars when their contracts run out...

(29,322 posts)I read an article about how the players actually love the city. I'm trying to find the article but what I recall is they liked that is was quiet and laid-back. They spent their free time hanging out with each other, doing outdoor stuff, BBQs, and video games.
I doubt what you say without some mitigating circumstances. Durant & Westbrook recently signed huge extensions and it has to do with the talent around with them. Stars won't leave unless the other stars are gone. 5 years is a long way from now but if it is the case that the stars will leave when their contracts run out, why did they sign extensions?
Now they could lose Harden. I expect demand will be high for him in the FA market. So it will be a case of does he want less money & a reserve role or take more money & be a starter elsewhere? Those will be the motivating factors rather than a desire to get away from OKC.

(41,832 posts)you can NOT get tickets... The city and the state love them and I think the players love the fans.

(29,149 posts)I've followed them anyway, of course, but seeing the level of excitement it's created these last couple of years has made me jealous of folks I know who can go up and see a game occasionally. I've heard a lot of talk from the media and from other teams about how great the fan atmosphere is, and as you said the players also seem enthusiastic about the fans and the community. It seems like it's just been a great thing for the metro and the state as a whole.
I sure hope they keep the run going!

(41,832 posts)She is a Thunder nut. When she can she goes to the games and/or sings the National Anthem.

(78,249 posts)...um ...er... can anyone even name a street in San Antonio or Okalhoma City?
JonLP24
(29,322 posts)in Miami, Boston, Philadelphia, or Indianapolis.
I realize Oklahoma City is the smallest NBA market but San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the US so I'm not sure what your angle is here??
KamaAina
(78,249 posts)It annexed basically the entire county into city limits.
Also, Biscayne Blvd., Beacon St., Broad St., and... um... er... stumped again.

(29,322 posts)On this list - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_cities_by_population I'm seeing 1,327,000+ while when you read about San Antonio, you'll see "Greater San Antonio" area listed has having 2.4 million. I don't think that is what they did to come up with this list.

(20,365 posts)Commerce is a block south. It and Market St. are the main downtown drags.
And actually the parades have been on the River.

(78,249 posts)but it is nowhere near wide enough for a parade. Perhaps they could just circle the Alamo a few times?
As I recall, the New Jersey Devils were once reduced to holding theirs in a parking lot.
