Bring it On NaNoWriMo 2015!

The 2015 updates go live on the website today. I am making my second attempt this year (didn't come close to finishing last time) and wanted to see if anyone else was signed up.

1. I tried last year.

I did not come close to winning.

I put my story away for the month of December and continued in the new year. I hit 50,000 words at the end of May and let a couple of people read my underdeveloped manuscript with no valuable feedback.

I started writing again on August first and just printed my 80,000 word manuscript last week.

I have been adding notes to add or move events and have been reading my editing reference material.

I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I am going to use the month of November to challenge myself to make the first 50,000 words of my novel a better version of what it is now. My goal is to have the rewrite done by the end of the year.

I wish you well at giving the challenge a second go. Let us know how you do.

2. Congrats to you on the 80,000 words!!

That right there is an accomplishment, to finish a book (excluding revision which is about like writing a whole new book)! Good luck to you on the revisions in November!!

I am hoping that telling several people I'm doing NaNoWriMo, will help me finally finish a piece of writing. I'm at the point where I don't even care if it's complete crap, just to finish would make me reasonably happy, there is always time after to fix and re-write.

I am wishing us both luck!!! And I will hopefully have a positive update or two on the progress. For now, I am outlining 4 potential story ideas to try to figure out what I will write about come November 1st...

3. Thanks for the heads up!

Every year I tell myself, this time I'm gonna do it! Then I don't, and my 3 works in progress languish in my writing folder. Glad you're going for it--best wishes!

5. I can relate to the multiple works in progress. I think works in progress are all I've got minus one

flash fiction story and a few poems.

6. Hey, good for you!

You know what they say about the journey of a thousand miles starting with the first step. Same with writing! I put together a chapbook awhile back, poems, short stories and essays, a gift to a friend, and thus far she and one or two uncritical family members have read it. But it's that one small step!

4. Oh, jeez. Is it almost that time again?

I'll have to give it some thought, but since I'm going on a cruise the week before Thanksgiving, and so will be away from my computer for ten days, there's probably no point in starting. Unless I think I can get at least 30,000 words done before the cruise, and the final 20,000 after I get back.

Not very likely.
