Midnight in Moscow (or... Things the grandkids don't know)

It was 1962, I was 17.
Pouring rain on Decatur Street,
Midnight in Moscow from a dark bar.
Me standing at Aunt Sally's window, Squinting over at Cafe du Monde,
Wishing I had a dime for a beignet.
Kid comes along, my age,
Says he has a room down Royal.

He buys muffelettas.
We do it. I walk an hour up St. Charles
To Carondelet Street
Where I got a third-floor room
By saying I was 18 and worked switchboard
At the telephone company.

I'd put "Squinting over at Cafe du Monde" in its own line though. And maybe think about taking the capital letters out of the lines that don't begin sentences (though that could be a style preference, and I'm not trying to change your style, if that's how you like it).

But I particularly like the title and how the time and place unfold. And, it's very visual.

Thank you.

(On my screen, the "squinting" line is on its own, so now I'm wondering if our posts are seen differently on other devices).
