Do Audio books count?

I was an avid reader all my life, from Nancy Drew books till Carlos Castaneda, but for some reason I stopped reading, then I discovered Audio.com, and am now an avid listener..

2. I have a friend that lost his sight. What would you do without Audio Books?

People that have a long commute or go on trips enjoy audio books too. I've never listened to one but I'm sure happy to have the option.

3. If course they do!

It is a different experience than reading, and I personally only listen to audio books when on a road trip, but it's still a book.

4. They are every bit as good as paper books. I have always been an avid reader. When

I had 3 episodes of retinal detachment over a 4 month period, I would have gone berserk without audiobooks. They saved my sanity and, even though I had previously only listened to them while driving/riding, I gained a new appreciation for listening to audiobooks thru headphones. It is a wonderful experience. A few of standouts: Charles Frazier's book, Thirteen Moons, Tana French's book, In the Woods, Khalid Hosseini's two books, The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.

After the 3rd surgery, the vision in my left eye was compromised and I began reading e-books so that I could use large print. It is wonderful to have these options available. Over time, my left eye improved, but I found that I really enjoyed the ease of reading on an e-reader and the time/money I save downloading books from the library rather than getting in the car for a 40 minute round-trip to town is considerable.

5. Oh, yeah

About half of my books are audio books. Same (actually somewhat longer) investment of time. But a whole lot safer while driving

6. I finally got set up with the

library so I could listen to books as I worked around the farm. Not as many choices as I would like but I have been burning through them. With so little sitting time I was missing reading so much.

7. I do a lot of driving, and I just discovered audio books!

I love them. Here is a funny thing: I could never read Patricia Cornwall's books because I am so squeamish, but somehow I am able to listen to them in the car.

Go figure.

8. I find her books...extremely squmish!

Wish Dr G, M.E. would do a book or two,she is more delicate as it pertains to persons whom she dissects.
