Why do they do this?

Who does this horrible casting? Victoria Moretti is not a damn vapid blonde! Tom Cruise is a pimple on Reacher's ass. Aren't there any more actors than all these worthless mopes?
How do I read a Reacher book while I see Tom Cruise?
Looking at big men going to save someone? I see Holden, Borgnine, Ben Johnson and Warren Oates....
Get Cruise a box to stand on like Allen Ladd.....

Sorry , rant over.

and you will not be affected by Hollywood's feeble attempts at casting. I do that all the time when I have characters in books that they screw up so severely.

No way should Cruise be playing Reacher. Sometimes Hollywood makes a big mistake and this was one of them.

The movie had a lot of lone gunman/sniper content, and its original release date was right around the time of the Newtown school massacre. The release date was rightfully postponed, and it never got its momentum back.

I'm a huge fan of the Reacher books, I've met the author, and I did my fair share of griping about the Tom Cruise casting. And oddly enough, I thought the flick was pretty good---Cruise bears no physical resemblance to Jack Reacher, of course, but I thought he depicted Reacher's attitude pretty well, thanks to some sharp writing and direction.

and I tore through ALL of them in like a month. But yeah Cruise is like 1.5' too short to be playing Reacher.

as a movie, judging it simple as a Tom Cruise action vehicle like the Mission Impossible series, not comparing to the books. I think it succeeded there.

I just keep a separate image in my mind for reading the books. But then I find that's better in all cases of movie adaptations.

7. Tom Cruise is not Jack Reacher

I haven't seen the Reacher movie and refuse to see it. How Tom Cruise became the star that he is astounds me. He plays the same character in every movie. To cast him as Reacher, though, was horrifying. The physicality is all wrong, the demeanor is all wrong. Granted, Cruise will draw box office, but, really, there have to be limits.

Along the same lines, I think the Lincoln Rhyme movies are miscast as well, though I've enjoyed the few I've seen well enough.

By the way, my choice for Jack Reacher was Jim Caviezel.

No nonsense, someone whose face tells you has a history, and one you may or may not want to know about. Not a 5'6" skinny pretty boy.
