Any "Chronicles of Thomas Covenant" fans here?

I read both the First and Second Chronicles twice, years ago, and am trying to remember a particular scene in one of the Second Chronicles books, very possibly in White Gold Wielder. One of the people (or beings?) in the final push to save The Land sacrifices himself to help the others and as they cry out to him, he says something to the effect of, "It's not my life that matters, but LIFE."

This line has been resonating in my mind for quite a while lately and I feel it's very relevant today. Does anyone remember that scene and better yet, which book I can find it in?

1. Yes big fan

Read Lord Fouls Bane back in the 70s I think. Back then the genre was very limited and I’ve always hated that these tend to be trilogies with long waits for the next volume. I can’t remember how many of the Thomas Covens t books there have been. At least three trilogies, maybe four? The last one was four books long? It’s been a little while now so I forget. I’ve read some of his other stuff too but the ones about the Land are the best.

2. There are two trilogies and a tetrology.

I read both trilogies and thought White Gold Wielder was the end, didn't even know there was a tetrology until very recently.

Now I'll have to start reading that set real soon, but still need to find the quote I asked about and it's original context....

3. I read first two books in Donaldson's Gap Cycle, too.

Started the Third Chronicles a while back. Have to revisit Donaldson and finish those two series.

4. I didn't finish those, sci-fi right?

There was a book or books set in some ancient kingdom. There was magic involved and I think magic mirrors if I remember right. Was pretty good.

5. The Gap Cycle is Sci-Fi, yes. I read The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through, too.

donaldson is a really good writer who got better since the first Covenant series.

6. I'll mention another author I recently found

If you like those kind of books, you know LOTR type stuff. There’s a guy named Brent Weeks, looks like he just published the new, final volume in his Lightbringer series. I think fourth. anyway I just looked him up and saw his new book came out in December. I’ve saved the last couple volumes for when I was having surgery and knew I’d be bedridden for awhile. My health is good now but I’ll be picking this one up.
