(22,037 posts)1. Strange
For a holiday gift this past season, a friend gave me a day planner for 2018 titled "Freedom" and each day has a quote from Paulo Coehlo.
I haven't read his work so now my reading list is longer!

(60,015 posts)4. I read The Alchemist - my wife loved it, I was a bit "meh"
My tastes tend to run to early John Irving (Garp, Hotel NH, Own Meany), to Murakami (1Q84, Kafka), Michael Cunningham (The Hours - one of my very favorites)

Of course one of his first works The Alchemist was just so profound! I then read everything he wrote. Some of them good, others wondered, all in all worth the read!
