The Voices of Black Women

I know black women - I'm one of them. I'm 41. Been one all of my life.

We have been marginalized.

Demonized.

We are told what to think and how to say it. And if we step out of line -ooohhh boy - ooooh boy - Girl your gonna get it.

We are the welfare queens, the mammies, the chicks with her legs spread popping out babies on welfare left and right. We are the new face of AIDs. We are daughters, mothers, sisters, aunts, wives, girlfriends and friends.

And we are really looked at as shit in America. It started when a bunch of people voted for Reagan in 1980. See - he needed a scapegoat. And those folks fell for it hook, line, and sinker. We don't trust 'those' people. They can apologize. They can mea culpa all they want.

We don't like them. THEY - the voters - THEY did this to us. Them. Those ones. Over there. Those people. Not the Republican Party but the people who voted for "THAT ONE."

We live with the results of that vote EVERY Day.

They doubled down in 1994 and swept the House. More pain inflicted on us. Ohhh boy - doncha know? Only black women were on 'welfare'.

We have watched first Lady Obama being compared to a chimp and seen a bunch of punk asses make excuses for it.

We cried when the little girl in the Beasts of The Southern wild was called a derogatory term - that no one would have dared call the little girl in the movie The Help - the little blonde one.

And as for The Help - why now? Why when we have who we have as First Lady - Why do ALL kinds of Americans applaud that piece of shit book and movie? Oh wait? Does that hurt? Yeah - it was a piece of shit boys and girls. Suck it.

But this is our lot in life. We are to ACCEPT it.

There are others in more pain and distress. They have been treated worse - by us. We are the new oppressors. We are the evil ones now.

And so silently we go. What happens to a dream deferred? We have yet to know.

Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. This place is gone. Your presence and the presence of many others is a light being smothered in a not so slowly filling gorge of crap. This place isn't worth it and hasn't been for a long time.

It has been crystal clear that our perspectives, our viewpoints, our lives ain't of interest here. So why keep coming? They will have their single handful of black folks in GD that agree with everything they say, love who they love and hate who they hate, and they'll be happy. The inability to acknowledge simple facts re: race and this country's past and present have done it for me. It's an insignificant place full of uninformed and truly miserable people and I see no reason to keep bringing this hate and misery into my life.

I'm going the route of Frenchiecat, Karenina, Brewman, onpatrol, AspenRose, NatBurner, KindofBlue, firedupdem, Uzybone, SemiCharmedQuark, StarbucksAnarchist and a limitless number of black and brown posters that simply got sick of the ignorance, closedmindedness and idiocy here and just walked away. Really, what's the point?
