Gotta love how the same people who support the Republican Party and are voting for Donald Trump...

...can say with a straight face that racial tension is President Obama's fault. As if racial tensions didn't exist before the President was elected, and that whatever he actually says or does even matters to racists.

What Obama's election as president has meant is that on the one hand, black people and other people of color are getting less and less patient with white people (of all political backgrounds) who say that America is now "post-racial" and so anyone who dares to dissent from that view is throwing a turd in the country's punch bowl; while on the other hand, the virulent racism that has lurked below the surface in more recent decades (specifically since the hard-fought victories of the Civil Rights Movement) has been unleashed by Obama's election as president (note that I'm not blaming Obama himself).

The truth is, the racist turd has always been in the American punch bowl, and those who recognize that are simply the messengers of that truth. But you know what that say about messengers... (Hint: the same thing that happens to messengers figuratively routinely happens to unarmed black people literally.).

I find it hard to believe that many of the politicians who say this actually believe it. drm604 Sep 2016 #1

I think it's a Republican talking point. They are more than willing to deny obvious reality if it helps them politically.

But once in the booth, they will be the only one who knows who they actually vote for and hopefully they will vote their conscience (if they have one).

I'm sorry but any time you put your race over my well being as a black man and a gay man at that. I can't support you. Don't care what your color is
