I am taking a hiatus from D U

All the acrimony is creating a rage in me that I do not recognize and do not like. I tried to fight the good fight but I am tired.

A special shout out to 1StrongBlackMan. You are the brother I never had...

Bravenak, Number23, heaven05, Tar Heel Dem, NC Traveler, and anybody in this group I didn't mention I love you all...

suddenly things start shifting and changing, lines get blurred. Truth starts becoming what THEY can make it.

I saw a post from someone who is a known adversary of a lot of people in this forum. She has been responsible for alot of laughably stupid, absolutely MORONIC shit on DU for years. You've had more than a few run ins with her as well. Think "Corey Booker is awesome now!1" and you may know who I'm talking about. As I've said for years, I swear I hear the Looney Toons theme song every time I see that person's name.

After pretending for months that the 'Bernie Sanders supporters are turning alot of people away from him' meme was just "right wing or Third Way talking points" even after Van Jones, Tom Hartmann and her beloved Occupy made some really heartfelt comments saying the same thing, she has now broken her ankle pivoting to the new theme that all of the Sanders supporters who called BLM "thugs" "pro Hillary shills" and "Koch funded right wingers" were actually just trolls and not at all indicative of real Sanders supporters.

And of course every time she posts this claptrap, her usual 4-5 crew come rushing up to +1 this stupidity. Soon it will be that none of these people even existed and that black people just made them up to slime Sanders. You just watch. So no, they don't get tired of talking to themselves because that's how the lies become the truth to these people. This is how the BS meme that TPTB won't LET their candidates win instead of the apparently inconceivable thought that maybe no one actually wants their candidates has taken such root.

Fri Aug 21, 2015, 07:00 PM

and put it in the thread so they can't delete it later.

Don't comment, just record the remarks.

We know that their candidate has limited appeal--he just isn't resonating. He went to SC, to a town that is 30 percent black, and his audience was mostly 'not black.' The attempt to paint the area as a "conservative stronghold" is a canard--SC is a key primary state.

He's--despite what appear to be recent efforts in mitigation-- appealing to people who are going to, at the end of the day, vote for "Jeb!" That's just the truth, but no point in trying to tell them--they'll get mad if you do, and then they'll start in with the goading/baiting. It's just not worth the expenditure.

Sanders gets raucous, but mostly white welcome in South Carolina as he works for black support

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders sought to broaden his appeal with black voters Friday in a speech denouncing "institutional racism" in the political and economic system.

The Vermont senator addressed an overwhelmingly white crowd in the Republican stronghold of Greenville, South Carolina, as he made his case that "racism still remains a much too real part of American life." He's expected to meet privately with black leaders while in the state.

"There is no one who will fight harder not only to end institutional racism, but to make fundamental changes in our broken criminal justice system," he said, drawing roars from the crowd of almost 3,000.

Sanders pledged to fight the for-profit prison industry and to restore portions of the Voting Rights Act struck down by the Supreme Court.

South Carolina hosts the South's first presidential primary and is the first state in the nominating process to have a large number of black voters, who could make up a majority of the Democratic primary electorate in the state.

Sanders and his aides acknowledge he must get more black support, in South Carolina and other states, to win the nomination contest against Hillary Rodham Clinton.

And, yet too many of his supporters treat African Americans like this..

“It this a legitimate group? Have their official media accounts said anything concerning this? Could be paid subversion,” wrote another.

The doxxing began.

“Apparently one of the women, Marissa Johnson, was a Sarah Palin supporter some time back. You can probably draw your own conclusions…” wrote one.

Yeah, that was BFD on du.

It’s not everyone. On Reddit, it’s easy to find hundreds of comments discussing how best to understand, respond to, or support the activists. And it’s hard to tell the allegiances of online conspiracy theorists — and impossible to underestimate the penchant for mischief online. But many of the comments were similar to those heard in person at Sanders events over the last month.

snip//

"The Sanders campaign did not respond to two requests for comment on supporters and the conspiracy issue"

So they are well aware of how some of these supporters are acting in his name.

Tio Oso..

“It’s very insulting and completely tone deaf and really indicative of the level of vitriol and derision that very specific Bernie Sanders supporters are exhibiting and began to exhibit right away — which is 100% racist, it’s discriminatory, it’s very anti-black,” she said.

I've been at DU quite a while, and in my entire time here, I've never been called so many PERSONAL insults as I've received this last couple of months--one of these days, I should compile them all! Just the other day, I was accused of being a burier of bodies on the battlefield AND a keyboard warrior! By the same person! And I think there just may have been a reference to my being a manager of a house of prostitution, as well...

All because I haven't 'received' and 'accepted' the word of Saint Bernard.

I'll tell ya; I have learned something about people who are interested in politics in my old age. Not all people who call themselves liberal are terribly tolerant of views that diverge from their own. I think it's pretty doggone funny-sad, to learn this. I always thought we were universally better. Now I'm finding out some of us just support their team, and don't mind using opposition low-blow tactics to "win" (and by "win" I mean Charlie Sheen "winning"--not actual winning...!). I don't see where they get the idea that mocking and deriding someone personally, then high-fiving amongst themselves, is the smart strategy. Makes no darn sense!

NO liberal would risk a con in the WH especially now given they control the other houses and given the teaparty are the ugliest and meanest and most violent of them and they have power now.

I support Bernie, but I would never do anything to risk the con.

Attacking Hillary with smears as they do here all day long, could result in this and if it does, I will blame THEM

Loudly and angrily

If you want to claim you are a liberal, fine. Just understand what that actually means, and many dont.

When Obama was running the first time, my best friend cut me off because I wasn't getting in the bandwagon. I had no first choice at the time, but did have some issues with Obama from some of the research I had done. I just wasn't gung ho.
Well, apparently, that was a no no. I found out that my friend had glommed onto an Obama person which accounted for her distancing herself ftom me. It upset me no end.

I will tell youl that I quit contributing to Buzzflash because the anti-Hillary vitriole got so extreme that it made me sick. It was uncalled for. It's not the way to endear your favorite to a person who is observing and not decided. In fact, it's a turn-off.

I'm seeing the tension and hammering of a candidate to the extreme. I' m feeling that certain groups of people are making me feel like my former friend made me feel. It's uncomfortable and worrisome.

Thank you and everyone else for having the patience and stamina to do it, until you can't anymore of course. I'm afraid I'm useless because I get so angry that what I think can only be expressed in two little words. Two sweet forbidden words, well, one is forbidden. Two words that go together like toast and butter, roast beef and horseradish, apples and cinnamon, coffee and chocolate. Sometimes I have to tie my arms to the chair to prevent me from typing those (and other forbidden) words. Makes it hard to use the computer but at least I don't risk getting banned.

I used to take this site way too seriously. I used to think, incredibly, that it had much more influence on the real world than it actually does.

Yes, it has some influence upon the real world, but I think it's rather small. Most people come here with their minds fully made up and argue their viewpoint. This site is infested with unpaid trolls and people who are oblivious to the black experience.

Learn what you can from here that is useful and discard the rest. Don't engage with people who will never get it. You and I are both white, and we both get it. Don't waste your time. Like pinboy told me one time, don't engage with rabid right-wingers over the Vietnam War. Well, I don't any more, and I won't engage with people who obviously have their minds made up. I feel it's a waste of time.

Best wishes to you!
