My dad got drafted when I was 3 or 4 months old, and me and my mom went home to her parents' house to ride out the war. He came home on leave in early 1945, helped my mom get pregnant with my baby brother and got home permanently in Dec/45!

74. Well youngster :-))), I would say first and foremost would be patience. Takes

a long time to get where we are and over the years we just slow down. Don't see as good, don't hear as good and the list goes on. The hardest part at least for me, is the realization the you simply cannot do many of the things you used to do physically and have to either ask for help or hire someone to do it for you. If you are a homeowner and used to doing things like repairs etc. yourself it is hard to watch someone else do it. Just relax and accept whatever limitations age imposes on you, smile and carry on. Also exercise in moderation. I walk almost every morning and I never know how many blocks it will be. Just depends on creaky bones and in my case breathing, (COPD and Asthma). Aggravating, yes! But you just do it the best you can. You will feel better for it.
Most importantly, keep enjoying life. It will keep you younger than your chronological age.

Even though, in my experience, the younger generations are very nice to us old folks when they help us with the technology.

Recently I was in a Best Buy, purchasing a new printer/scanner/photocopier. (Am I the only one here who is TOTALLY amazed that I can actually own such a thing?) Anyway, I expressed my appreciation that kids like him never roll their eyes at people like me (at least I've never seen any of them do that) when I ask a lot of dumb questions.

I've been debating going from a simple phone that I can text on, to finally getting a smart phone. And then I hear stories like yours and I think, Why bother?

go back nor should we wish to.

We saw WWII, FDR, Harry Truman (who was most unpopular when he left office, though he's considered a hero today), the Eisenhower days, when our current highway system was and other infrastructure was constructed, (though I was an ardent Adlai Stevenson fan).
Brokenhearted when our President JFK was assassinated, and our world did changed significantly after that.

The chaos of our current administration is so clearly dysfunctional and we've learned in our many years that orderliness does indeed bring a more serene life, so that we can go about the matters that mean the most to us, without constantly being distracted.

Yes, still find things to laugh about! Keeping up with technology (barely)! Slowing down, but still walking without assistance and driving! Have had only two joints replaced!

99. Several things in common, including 2 knees replaced, driving (just renewed my driver's license..)

I'm still in my one-floor but too big house.
I use a Hurricane when out of the house, to avoid unknown uneven spots, but happy to say, no falls as yet.
Fewer old-time friends still around or active, but treasuring remaining family and friends even more.

108. Not too ghostly here, but I do wonder how it happens that I'm still here while so many

have gone already.

However, I've gotten a new mission in the last 3 years, as older daughter had a stroke, leaving her with asphasia (speech difficulty) and no use of right arm & hand, plus needy psychologically. She now lives in a long-term facility, as I cannot provide the physical & medical help needed.

So I'm stretching myself to be available to and for her, and it does get exhausting at times.
Grateful for what I can do, knowing it cannot/will not go on forever. -
