Any of yall notice, when you've had an operation/procedure, shortly after you develop another problem or minor illness?

last year I had my first cataract surgery and about a week later, I had a gallbladder attack.
Recently I had a tooth out and promptly developed a cold.

OK, you say two times doesn't mean anything. Maybe not. My sister says this sort of thing has happened to her. I can't give you examples, I don't know them.

But have any of you noticed this?

1. Not necessarily a "senior issue".

When I had my tonsils out 60+ years ago, I immediately came down with mumps. My throat was already inflamed and swollen. I remember being miserable for about a month.

2. Seniors have more "procedures".

There’s always a little risk when the body’s integrity is breached. Plus, having more people than usual hovering around and breathing on you.

I thought it was just me! It is sometimes in a part of the body just close enough to the operation that I/doctors/my husband's doctors dismiss it as related, though it's not. (Except in that way that everything is related.)

4. I believe in The Wave Theory of health.

You'll go a spell with smooth sailing, then a wave of bad health will hit.

In fact, I believe The Wave Theory applies to just about everything. The waves roll in, and the waves roll out, forever and ever.

5. I tend to avoid doctors and hospitals for this exact reason...I must admit almost every medical procedure

has had some sort of complications. I'm very healthy and it was puzzling. 2 skin Cyst removed with post op infections. Broken fibula? cast obscenely tight. Cornea surgery? Doctor made an "unplanned" cut..
And then lied about it on the medical chart.. Skin cancer DX..? Derm said it was nothing. Second opinion?
yup, skin cancer. First biopsy positive with Mohs surgery. Two more operations to clear the field..
Had some funky chest feelings. Has a 24 hour Holter monitor of my heart.. And they forgot to charge the battery and that was a redo.. uff
Vaccination as a child? Doctor broke the needle in my ass when I jumped. As I remember he really sucked using his hands on anything. Probably why he went into family medicine.
And the list goes on. The only procedure I can remember recently with no complications was stitches to my ankle.No problems healed well.. Not done by a MD it was done by a PA...Good show!
Having worked in the medical field for over 40 years I just keep healthy and stay away from the
Medical Industrial Complex...

6. Well, no.

I'm am exceptionally healthy, can't tell you when I last had a cold. Haven't gotten influenza since about 1974, and no I don't bother with a flu shot but I an not suggesting you also skip them.

Okay, so I had a heart attack three years ago. Got a stent, was told that while the one artery had been 100% blocked, they cleared it out. No other artery had any build up of any kind.

I honestly think the main reason I am so healthy is that most of my life I've made sure I get plenty of sleep. It makes a huge difference. I know that genetics and personal health history also matter, but if you're not getting enough sleep, there are consequences.
