Recommend any senior health plan?

My 74 year old sister has been with Kaiser Permanente. Over the past 6 months she's had many health issues arise. KP doesn't seem to be adequate to treat her. Everything has become worse despite making efforts to seek answers. Her problems are mental and physical. I'd list them all, buy that could change as I type.

She's not really capable of choosing and investigating. I've seen ads for Physicians Mutual. Possibly they could help. Anybody have experience with them?

1. Interesting.

I am happier with Kaiser than any other insurance I've had over the years. I started with them through the ACA & now am on Medicare. I live in a Kaiser rich environment, though. Lots of Kaiser nearby.

Good luck finding someone who can help her! Our system is crazy fucked up.

2. She fears leaving them as it came while employed.

And we have relatives who also like them. Where are you? I suspect being short staffed is changing methodology. And that might be everywhere.

It is so confusing. My hubby and I had SAG PPO. Then Covid lockdown knocked thousands from PPO to HMO - Medicare Advantage.

KP could be really good. But I think they have certain restrictions because of being shorthanded. Seeing a neurologist has been almost impossible. Even getting to see a dermatologist was an uphill battle.

3. Denver/metro.

I haven't needed anything urgent since the strike, though. I opt for telephone and/or video visits when I can.

Getting healthcare shouldn't be so complicated or expensive.

Orange County is a bit larger. I wonder about cost of living and hospital staff. Denver is pretty expensive too. I suspect my sister sabotaged herself much of the time. I've heard their mental health team is not up to the job. We're having a really hard time seeing a neurologist.

You must answer a ton of questions and they design your plan. We both have been signed up with Medicare Advantage since 2021. He's with Blue Shield of CA and I with United Healthcare. We had Medicare PPO before Covid, Anthem Blue Cross. Supposedly for life. Covid wiped out many things in our lives. And when reaching the end of life, suddenly having to make these choices truly sucks. Medicare Advantage HMOs are very much more affordable until it suddenly isn't. AND as I write this from the dentist office, we pay $100 per month for Cigna dental coverage.
