So this whole situation with Chief Petty Officer Gallagher...

I'm a proud Navy veteran but I dont pretend to be anything other than just a veteran. I was me er put in a situation where I had guns pointed at me or had to poi t guys s at others...

I've been thinking about this whole issue and feel that the practice of establishing the standards for ongoing service and membership in the United States Navy should be established by the Navy....not by a civilian.

The Air Force, the Army, the Navy, the Marine Corps, and the Coast Guard are five equally important branches of the armed forces of the United States and they all have standards and traditions unique to those branches.

While traditions may vary between branches, one thing remains constant...

The Uniform Code of Military Justice and its process...is a process reserved to the military.

When I enlisted Ion the Navy i made a conscious decision to put my faith in the service and its traditions and regulations.

While I may have chafed occasionally at some of the rules and regulations imposed by the Navy...in the end I realised those rules and regulations were promulgated for good reason...to promulgate order and discipline.

I suspect my brothers and sisters, members of the other services might agree.

I dont claim to be a saint, but, I do know that the very basic values instilled into me, from the day I enlisted to the day I was discharged were...

Do your job.
Look out for your shipmate.
Protect the innocent.
Do not dishonour the service or your flag.

Sorry if I sound like I'm ranting or rambling
...this cuts to the bone for me.

The only real family I ever had in life were my shipmates...this situation is threatening to test that apart.

Rump is doing this because anyone who harms brown people is good as far as he is concerned and his supporters.

I assume all of the victims were brown.

Some of us who were in the military for short times, some of us shorter than others (believe me, you DONT want to know ) who are really civilians in the big picture, cant comprehend the sacrifices and lives of our sailors, air-persons and soldiers.

specifically to Gallagher who has disgraced his rank. My first assignment was with a joint services command and we always referred to CPO's as Chiefs and then highers as Senior and Master Chiefs.

This NAVY vet agrees with you. It sickens me the damage this incompetent traitor has done to our nation, our citizens and our military - both active duty and vets. He is damaging the moral compass of this nation. Now this.

Gallagher is NO hero. It is unfortunate that his ENTIRE history in the ME has not been exposed and disseminated. He does not deserve to wear the trident. And he certainly does not deserve to walk free. I noticed also that he's been all over the news shows running his mouth. WHEN did that become SOP ? When I was in, you (as an individual) DID NOT speak out publicly. And you certainly NEVER criticized your chain of command to reporters.

Apparently, Gallagher has forgotten one of our mantras -- there is no "I" in team work.

Commanders-in-Chief.

I'd say a particular, highly compromised civilian should leave the matter alone.

This includes the everyone from the company commander through the General Courts Martial convening authority all the way up to POTUS.

Those in the lower echelon from company commander to the general should perform their military justice duties with circumspection and independence when a referral to courts-martial is under consideration. Lower ranking commanders should not be subject to command influence from superiors on referral judgments. Commanders should not promote their personal views about what outcome they see as desirable when recommending or making a formal referral to courts- martial. Courts-martial panel members should not have to consider, well the colonel says, or the skipper said, or the general said the accused is guilty or that he favors this or outcome, either during the referral process or before the courts-martial reaches a final verdict. Nor should anyone in process be subjected to unlawful influences such as the president said "he's guilty." Or the president said this trial is wrong, or I intend to pardon this person.

This was the original mistake. Once it occurs the whole military justice process is compromised.

It says:

“Where was their outrage when the Naval Criminal Investigative Service agents dragged my brother’s kids in the street at gunpoint in their underwear? (A fact NCIS denied to this very publication until under oath admitted that, yes, they did drag my nephews nearly naked into the streets of San Diego when Ed wasn’t home).”

If this is all true. It looks like it’s a couple of other groups that need retraining also. They lied about doing that until they were placed under oath. That’s something that can be easily verified.

Is this all true?

Nothing excuses what the SEAL did.

Is NCIS similar to our CID? That could have been a disaster. Hopefully they were not issued live rounds.
