Today's twisted headline

I got a kick out of this headline (reporting about the Detroit woman who was killed while dancing with a police officer):

Police: Officer's gun that killed Adaisha Miller had trigger that could be reached through holster

Really? This was some special gun with a unique trigger that could be reached through the holster? How about a more accurate headline that reports on the (lack of) functionality of his holster? I know it wouldn't fit the anti-gun agenda of the "Free Press," but at least it would sound believable.

4. Actually...

...I thought the bottom line was that this police officer was negligent, both by selecting a holster that did not provide adequate protection for his firearm, and then by either being drunk himself, or allowing someone else who was somewhat incapacitated to come in contact with his poor excuse for a holster.

I merely found it amusing that the freep still found a way to blame the gun, rather than the cop or the holster.

No surprise that some posters here would chime in with their agreement of the paper's position.

PS - among all the labels you may like to paste on the Detroit PD, I'm not sure "sissies" would be one that would stick.

I agree they are for people too fearful to be without one.

And I guess police should have them. But I wish possession of handguns was outlawed so police wouldn't have to use them.

Amazing the love affairs that exist for an inanimate object that threatens, maims, and murders. It's ugly.

Inanimate objects don't threaten, maim or murder, people do. If I hear this argument one more time I am going to vomit.

I'm fairly certain shooting at a cop is illegal now yet it happens every day.

What makes you think outlawing possesion of a handgun would A.) stop criminals from getting them and B.) stop criminals from carrying them?

how would you keep guns out of criminals hands? You really think they would obey a gun ban, you know, being criminals and all.

Life sure wouldn't be better for those that can no longer defend themselves.
How would you collect the firearms already in circulation? Would you be willing to help with confiscation, going door to door, not that it's ever going to happen in this country.

How will you stop smuggling? We can't even stop drugs from coming across the border. How are you going to stop someone with a lathe and drill press from making their own gun?

How well did you think this out?

The guy was a cop. Your post doesn't seem to have anything to do with the OP.

On the other hand, there is something wrong with people who revile guns so much that they have to butcher a headline to make it seem the gun was defective, when that isn't the case at all.

if someone tried to take it away I would try to stop them.

If someone routinely spread false truths about cars (they're more likely to kill you than to get you anywhere) I would counter those lies.

I wouldn't say I "worship" cars though.
