(30,252 posts)I must admit that the whole debate over "Castle Doctrine" laws has taken some interesting and tragic turns because of (a) Trayvon Martin's death and George Zimmerman's claim of self-defense, (b) Marissa Alexander being sentenced to prison for keeping her abusive husband at bay with a gun, and (c) that Texas case where a man marched onto his neighbor's property and shot him dead because his music was too loud.

(46 posts)'ve always been RKBA, with reasonable limits.
But I also understand that the usual purpose of 2nd Amendment that's trotted out...that 2nd Amd is here, so "we can fight Tyranny"...is wishful thinking, at best.(unless I claim a 2nd Amd Right to Tactical Nukes.lol)
I've never liked guns. Too loud.
I'm a Bow Guy(and blowguns and swords)
But, around 04, 2 things happened. 1 a Crazy American legion Guy tried to Strangle me, for answering his query honestly.lol(Him:"what dya thin of Bush?' me"I think he should be arested and taken to the Hague"
and 2: Our Crazy RW Neighbor starte Prowling around ours and my mom's place, at all hours. He was buddies with the Sheriff, so no help from there(and we are, for all practical purposes, the Only outspoken liberal Folks out here. It matters))
So, I procured a couple of reasonable Guns.
Taught my Boys all about them(primarily to leave them the hell alone)
and take full advantage of Texas' Law, regarding keeping it in the truck. I rarely strap one on,lol...but I reckon I could get away with it.
Lots of others do, around here.(open carry.not legal, just tolerated)
