Another Emily Miller article.
It seems her series is having a direct effect on the DC stalling efforts. I wonder if this makes Chief Lanier grind her teeth at night? Interesting article as she goes through each barrier that DC has set up to impede or block the now required permit process.
<snip>
The councils Judiciary Committee chairman, Phil Mendelson, used his oversight powers to force the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to make changes over the past two weeks so that officers would properly explain and enforce the three-year old firearms laws.
My series has exposed how the MPDs firearm registry office has been misleading the public about the gun laws, but the police department refused to admit fault or make the necessary modifications. Finally, I approached Mr. Mendelson about the problems.
The At-large Democrat presented many of my complaints in a letter to Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier on April 9.
Mr. Mendelson instructed her both on fixing the implementation of current law and how to change methods to reflect the revised gun law which passed the council on April 17 and will cut some of the red tape in the registry process.

Keep em off the streets and out of people's pants.

(54,770 posts)More guns sold to so-called law-abiding folks, more guns available to criminals. Think how much better off we'd be if we started controlling things decades ago. Instead, we'll pander to those who will never have enough guns.. 10 years from now there will be another 100 million guns floating around for the gun obsessed and criminals.

(6,185 posts)Why don't you have the courage of your "convictions" and just come out and admit you really don't want people to have a gun in their home or anywhere else.
They can all rely a machete, bicycle wheel and their innate fighting skills to defend their families.
Now, fill us all in on how that Georgia SYG, Castle doctrine and CCW repeal campaign is going for you in Georgia? A lot of signatures on the petitions from the local Starbuck's?

(6,185 posts)I don't think you need any of those misguided "friggin recall petitions" either, and apparently you agree based on your actions, or inaction to be more accurate.

I bet most folks ticketed for going 45 in a 40 zone started out going slower. We should prohibit that kind of activity.

(8,614 posts)Got them at a fair price for both parties. This brings my collection up to 230. Of course there was no background check, both parties have Texas CHL's.
Please take the time to describe for us your definition of "reasonable" as pertains to private firearms collections. It would be most interesting to hear.
Now some of these new, to me, firearms will be used as trade goods to increase the value of my main collection. Do you have any problems with that?

(15,396 posts)Is just using a stalling technique.Every bit of pro gun legislation is lost, delayed, lied about and held up anyway possible. The powers that run DC do not want concealed carry or any less restrictive gun laws, they like the sheep just the way they are.

(2,997 posts)It's not like they have to spend THEIR money.
This is the double indignity of having to sue the state for overstepping its authority. They get to use your money to fight you, while you use your money to fight them. Then, if you win, they will steal more of your money to pay you!
Being in government means never having to foot your own bill.
