Not *ONE* reference to "gun control" at the Chris Hayes town hall event.

I wonder why. The people of Chicago understand that poverty and lack of opportunity are the drivers of gun violence in their city, and understand that NO gun restriction -- statewide or national -- holds any promise as a remedy. Which is exactly what honest criminologists have been saying for decades. Get at the root cause rather than adopt lazy knee-jerk "fixes". I'm guessing that Democrats will double-down in '18 and beyond......and the consequences will be the same as they've always been.

Other than that, video started with Trump bashing over sending more FBI and ATF agents in to Chicago, then a little more Trump bashing, then 40 minutes of mostly BS. Then at the end, the only guy that made any sense, Cook County Commissioner Richard Boykin, actually had some words of wisdom talking about black on black violence and revolving door criminals, and the need for more FBI and ATF agents, and more funding for Policing, which were met with jeers in the background from the audience. I don't think the people running Chicago care, or care enough, to fix it. Just talking about it is racism and the politicians running the city enrich themselves while ignoring the real problem. They want more Fed money so they can mismanage it and still not fix the underlying problems.

They tried gun control and it didn't work which is probably why no one talked about in the town hall meeting. The solution isn't gun control. They need 2x more Police on the streets and maybe even have the National Guard come in for a limited period of time. I suspect if Trump offered enough money for Chicago to double the size of the Police Force, the City would scoff at the idea, or take the money and waste it on stupid crap and not hire 1 additional Officer.

"They tried gun control and it didn't work which is probably why no one talked about in the town hall meeting."

Yeah -- that was the essential (unstated) point of my OP. I should be less terse with my posting. Pro-RKBA folks have been pointing out the hypocrisy of The Controllers in not speaking out re. Chicago's gun violence victims, so perhaps the town hall was designed as push-back against the reality of "progressive" lack of perspective.
