Brady gives up - "Action against Lucky Gunner over online ammo sales dropped"

Brady throws in the very expensive $100,000 towel.

http://www.wbir.com/story/news/2015/07/21/action-against-lucky-gunner-over-online-ammo-sales-dropped/30495515/

&quot WBIR) - A group fighting against guns and gun violence in America dropped its latest legal fight Tuesday against a Knoxville-based ammo company.

Prosecutors say convicted Colorado theater killer James Holmes bought ammunition used in the shooting from www.luckygunner.com.

Earlier this year, the Brady Center organized a lawsuit against Lucky Gunner, saying the company should have known Holmes was "a danger to society."

A U.S. District Court judge in Colorado tossed the lawsuit, called it "propaganda" and said Holmes' online ammo purchases did not violate any federal laws. He also ruled plaintiffs should reimburse Lucky Gunner for legal fees.

The plaintiffs appealed that ruling, but dropped it today. In a statement Lucky Gunner said, "We took the Brady Center's assault against us and the Second Amendment very seriously. Our goal was to protect our livelihood and to protect the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans to responsibly buy and sell ammunition online."

Lucky Gunner was awarded more than $100,000 in legal fees. The company is donating that money to Second Amendment rights groups."

I'm sure the folks in the other group, that were so concerned about the plaintiffs legal costs and that "vile NRA", have started writing checks and set up a "Go Fund Me" site already, to show that they are more than just online whiners about these things.

Let me see if I have this straight.

Lucky Gunner was awarded more than $100,000 in legal fees. The company is donating that money to Second Amendment rights groups.
the lawsuit, it was dismissed and the judge awarded us $111,971.10 as a partial reimbursement for our legal fees.

re 'partial reimbursement' Brady had to pay Sporting Guide & BTP as well: In ordering Brady to pay $203,000, Senior District {demonstrably pro-gun} Judge Richard Matsch criticized the orga... http://www.americas1stfreedom.org/articles/2015/6/22/first-things-first/brady-campaign-ordered-to-pay-legal-fees-in-another-failed-lawsuit/

According to court documents filed .. in a combined sum, Lucky Gunner and Sportsman Guide paid roughly $224,600 to fight allegations that they failed to properly vet the gunman who used their products to kill 12 people and injure 70 others.. in July 2012.
BulkAmmo.com, more commonly known as Lucky Gunner, requested $151,574.70 in attorney and travel fees. And Sportsman Guide requested $73,037.87 on similar expenses.
Brian Platt, owner of BTP Arms, an online retailer that sold the gunman tear gas, has also requested $23,714.99 for attorney fees and $33,569.89 in relief.
http://weaponsman.com/?p=22370

By my reckoning, $225,000 + 24,000 + 34,000 = roughly 283,000 dollarios.
$283,000 is supposedly what it cost the 3 gun groups to defend themselves, excepting $34,000 for 'relief' aka 'greed', so let's just say $249,000 is what the 3 groups spent.

So, it seems to me the gun groups got shorted about $45,000, yes? or up to $80,000 if you include relief as valid, yes?
Considering solely lucky gunner, they first requested $151,574 in atty & travel fees, but settled for $112,000, seems a $40,000 discrepancy between what it cost lucky gunner & what brady paid them. Not so lucky, lucky G?
Next, Lucky Gunner is donating the $112,000 it recouped to 2nd amendment groups, so far NRA is polling at 10% so that'd be $11,200 (doesn't the nra need it desperately tho, eh?). Well a donation is generally an out of pocket expense, not income.
So, it seems to me that lucky gunner is gonna actually be OUT $151,574 for the whole affair, excepting tax breaks & all that.

I suppose one other answer might be that, the gun groups were padding their expense accounts? and even the republican rightwing pro gun judge couldn't buy it? did the brady co plea bargain?

No, haven't done that so you're wrong again batman. What I'm thinking of doing tho, is sending lucky gunner a copy of 'Statistics for Dummies', as soon as icon is finished reading it.

Publicity like that you just can't buy.
Add that to the write-off from the $112,000 donation and I'd hazard a guess that business is up.

Of course not. We all know that gun control fans are too cheap and lazy to ever actually back up the loudmouth rhetoric with actual money or activity beyond snarky posts.

That's a job for the racist 1%er that bankrolls all you hold dear.

In the meantime, you were wrong again about the appeal, once again reinforcing your and the entire gun control movements growing irrelevancy.

How was I wrong about brady's appeal? I only find one post on search where I mentioned appeal, & that was to reply to va mtn man's assertion that brady was appealing:

mtn man: ..and they are appealing the case to a higher court too loose some more

I replied to mtn man: Hopefully the appeal won't be heard by a rightwing pro gun judge. Do you really think an appellate court will stick it to the plaintiffs as the rightwing kangaroo court-judge did?
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1172169785#post4

If anyone was 'wrong' about the appeal, it was va mtn man, to whom you should be calling 'wrong about the appeal', if anyone.
If you mean my writing 'hopefully.....' , well that doesn't make much sense at all donP. How can an appeal be heard by the judge whose judgement was appealed? Mtn man is the one contending the case was to be appealed to a 'higher court', not matsch the original rightwing judge.
Doesn't make much sense at all what you wrote, donP; But I guess it's what I've come to expect from you.
