Ringwood police went to Mariusz Cebulas home on Friday evening to seize his firearms a provision of a domestic-violence restraining order issued by a judge.
Authorities characterized Cebula as a collector of military-issue firearms, with a particular affinity for weapons utilized during the Second World War. Among the items collected by Cebula were what police described as ordnance, which officials determined to be inactive.
As authorities combed through the home, they unearthed a hidden bunker under the basement floor of Cebulas home.

(1,401 posts)The article doesn't state why the police conducted a search of the residence. It did state the individual was permitted to own most of the firearms present. I wonder why the police felt it was necessary to call the bomb squad to deal with retrieval and storage of firearms?

(597 posts)From the article:
Had a permit to own firearms
Was a known collector of WW2 militaria
Most of the guns seized were legal and collectable
The "ordnance" found was all inert (i.e. rendered inoperable, as you would expect for a collector)
Aside from the one gun and one accessory that was apparently not legal, sounds like DU's favorite Curios & Relics FFL holder, FlaminLib. As far as hiding the stuff, that's a lot of money invested, I'd hide it too. But if you're going to collect guns, don't beat your wife. She knows you have guns and will let the police know you keep them under the floor.

A savvy savant of all things savory thought up this spread that youll savagely devour. The secret to this savorous spread is super superb SPAM® Classic! Cheesecake has never been so scrumptiously satisfying.
Ingredients
For Crust:
3 cups oyster crackers, crushed
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/3 cup melted butter
For Filling:
4 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
4 eggs, lightly beaten
1 12-ounce can SPAM® Classic, diced
1 (8-ounce) can pineapple tidbits in juice, drained
2 cups shredded Swiss cheese
1/3 cup minced chives
1/4 cup minced fresh basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Assorted crackers
Directions Launch Kitchen View
1In a bowl, combine the oyster cracker crumbs, Parmesan cheese and butter; set aside 1/4 cup for the topping. Press the remaining crumb mixture onto the bottom and inches up the sides of a greased 9-inch springform pan. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
2Meanwhile, in a skillet, heat the SPAM® Classic until lightly browned; set aside.
3In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs; beat on low until just combined. Add the SPAM® Classic, pineapple, cheese, chives, basil, salt, pepper and garlic powder. Beat until just combined. Pour into crust. Sprinkle with the reserved crumb mixture.
4Place pan on a baking sheet. Bake at 325°F for 70-90 minutes or until the filling is almost set. Turn oven off. Leave the cheesecake in the oven with the door ajar for 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes. Carefully run a knife around the edge of the pan to loosen. Cool the cheesecake for 1 additional hour. Remove cheesecake from the pan. Refrigerate overnight, if serving chilled. Also great served warm or at room temperature. Serve with assorted crackers. Makes 24-36 servings.
A collector has a large collection- wow. "Bunker" or storm shelter? details would be nice.
Can't argue with the provision to remove firearms in connection with a restraining order. It is reasonable.
