Gun Sales Spike In June

It's a hot summer for the gun industry.

Background checks for gun sales spiked 11% in June compared to last year, making it the busiest June ever, according to the FBI's background check data.

Last month the FBI conducted nearly 1.53 million background checks, which are required for all in-store purchases, but not for sales at gun shows or between individuals. That's the highest volume of checks in June since 1999, when the FBI started keeping track.

Gun background checks have climbed annually since 2003 with the exception of just three years, one of which was 2014, indicating a clear jump in gun sales.

Michael Bazinet, spokesman for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, a gun industry group, said the increase is driven in part by the influx of more women and first-time gun owners into the market.

The truth matters that seems to be something that escapes these fools...

How about not between individuals in most states, but are required for FFL dealers at gunshows.

What moron went to HCI to get their "facts" for this article? I thought this myth was put to rest decades ago...

I can say this when we come home last Friday there was a new pistol waiting at the dealer for me.

Our "moral superiors" keep reminding us of that.

I expect one to come along any minute to remind us that ours is a fading interest group.

Still waiting for one of them to explain the 275,000 new Illinois FOID cards last year?

I'm having trouble keeping a straight face after checking out the host of the other group, whining about how he was unfairly and rudely banned from this group for calling us all assholes twice ... after banning 40+ other people from his group for things as "vicious" as an apology and a retracted post.

Your blatant and frothing desire to use the power of the government to directly and indirectly eliminate guns from private hands works very well to get Republicans in office.

Oh, and by the way, Republicans make the underlying social and economic problems of crime worse, not better. So not only fits what you do not make things better, it makes them worse.

Ponder that.

Ponder how much you help the Republicans every time you split off with your bullshit.

Remember the Dixie Swastika came down against all the frothy concern troll warnings...your time is up, NRA Swastika.

320 million guns in America sold using fear, the NRA being Ground Zero for spewing fear and paranoia at every opportunity, but...."accuse others of what you do", I get it.

What is a good number?

Hard to say, but 300 million less would be a good start, equal to the number law enforcement has.

Just my opinion.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE

Guess what, Fred?

"Talking point" does not mean what you think it means. You think it means "lie", and you slather it on anything that challenges your viewpoint. After all, since obviously correct, anything that challenges you must be wrong and thus "a talking point lie".

And I don't know about you (I really don't) but I want liberal economic and educational policies I place so that my country and my citizens do better. YOUR misguided attempts to "change the culture of guns" not only is an ongoing failure in and of itself, but it's keeping knuckle-dragging conservatives in office.

So thanks for that. Really.

I work in a building within direct view of the parking lot and entrance to my county's biggest indoor gun range. What I see confirms what I see when I go to my range -- and that is that the number of female shooters is on the rise.
