• 1885 – Rock Springs massacre: In Rock Springs, Wyoming, 150 white miners, who are struggling to unionize so they could strike for better wages and work conditions, attack their Chinese fellow workers killing 28, wounding 15 and forcing several hundred more out of town.

International Rally. I do a general history about a place before we get there and saw nothing about this event. As we travelled we stopped at a couple of Thai Restaurants for lunch and I wondered why so many Asians in Rawlins.
Mind you, we were preparing for the rally and the Art Show to raise money for the United Way.
The railroad across alongside I 80 is in constant use. Union Pacific. I should have thought more deeply about who built the rail tracks.
Even still, there was no reference to this event. I was in and about town to the hardware store, oil change, groceries and restaurants.
Sorry I couldn't have checked this out.

I’ve never heard of this either though I can see why they would want to sweep it under the rug. Rock Springs does not strike me as being very progressive though they have a decent brewery in old downtown. Otherwise it’s a hardscrabble, boom or bust town.
