Are there some illiterate dogs. My dog has no vocabulary

After years he doesn’t respond to words like
Chow, cookie, toy, Dad.

I’m not sure he knows his name even.

On line talks about how some dogs have huge vocabularies. Nothing a out a seemingly learning disabled dog.

He’s not deaf. He’s perfect otherwise. He can be trained by facial expressions, pointing fingers, and tone.

I had a cat that seemed like a slow-learner. Later I realized that she must be deaf.

on the breed, maybe you speaking the wrong language, i.e., Chow-Chow, Chinese or German Shepherd, German, etc., though if he is older he should have picked up on some English by now...

There are five sleeping areas, regular meals, two easy chairs, a fenced in yard and he’s king!

Oh that’s it. He’s king. We are but underlings.
