Would appreciate good energy to get homeless kitty trapped.
Rescue lady came out yesterday to try to help, bug neither of the homeless kitties would go into the traps we set.
Her advice was to not feed them for a couple of days. Heartbreading to see these babies hungry, especially as they have come to depend on me to feed them.
One is such a sweetie! He now allows me to pet him & rumbles like a freight train & makes biscuits while I pet him.
I think this one is a keeper. Rescue lady said once he is neutered, he will just be a darling snuggle bug in the house.
His brother is 100% feral.
Tyia for any good thoughts to get this little sweetie trapped & again on the vet's surgery schedule for his snip.
Ps - his feral brother will be next. They were both scheduled for snips today but had to cancel as we couldn't get them trapped.

Rescue lady brought stinky wet food & I added a can of tuna (homeless kid's fav!), but never thought to leave end uncovered!

I'll be trying again when grandson wakes up as he will have to haul trap outside & set it.

Due for horrible cold snap incoming in a couple of days. I sure hope we can get at least the 1 friendly guy trapped & indoors by then.
Rescue lady said she will return Sat or Sun to try again with the feral boy.
Then it will be an all-out effort to get my senior queen kitty to accept this sweet boy into our home. (She does not seem to believe there is enough room on our planet for other living creatures. 😓 )

Ps - The friendly kitty waltzed right into the trap to eat tuna a week or so ago, but was not heavy enough to trip the trap plate. (A whopping 4 lbs or so. Lol)
Now, it's a water bottle & fishing line propping the trap door open.

Rescue lady brought salmon & tuna stinky wet food & I added a can of tuna to the trap, but no go...yet.
I've made it my business to keep the outside kitties extremely well fed, just like the rest of my family.
Rescue lady said it could be Sat or Sun before they are hungry enough to go into trap for food. Heartbreaking to see them hungry & not being able to stuff them with good food. 
But I know it's for their own good.
Reminds me of when my Dad was actively dying in hospice & nurses kept catching my Mom trying to feed him, except his body was shutting down as a natural process. And these fur kids being hungry is far from normal, at least in my view. But I feel a similar discomfort to what she must've felt.
Ps - Am I becoming a crazy old cat lady?

Then it will be a matter of getting Trixie, my senior Snowshoe rescue to accept this sweet boy into our home & family.
I wish I could translate "You were once homeless & hungry" and "there is plenty of love & food to go around here" into cat language.
Hopefully, the huge cat tree I bought her will be assembled today. Maybe that will help.

Someone has to make up for the ignorant rednecks who throw pets out when they are no longer desirable.

The rescue lady said they need to be hungry for a few days before they will go near trap. I think this is more traumatic for me than for them, as I like to keep they well stuffed on yummy food, especially in cold weather.
I'll let the group know if I'm successful. I've rescheduled his neuter for Tuesday morning (the earliest next appt.). This is the 3rd or 4th time I've had to reschedule.
If he were a bit heavier, this would all be done, as he waltezed right into trap to eat tuna, but wasn't heavy enough to trip the plate and drop the door.

I've used tuna fish twice - finally brought in a cat I used to feed outside and that's also what I used with Felix, though he required additional help from 2 others, he was that determined. For the previous cat, I borrowed a have-a-heart trap that I borrowed from the animal hospital.
Even dry food. No luck yet.
She said they need to be very hungry to go in trap. Desperate.
Poor little guys.
Forecast for single digits overnight next week. Need to get this done, but I guess it's a process.
Lady said hopefully Saturday.
