My sister's dog was attacked by coyotes!

She lives near Nevada City in California, and they have had a problem in her area with more and more coyotes.

But she and her husband took their small dog outside, and out of nowhere two coyotes attacked the dog.

They chased off the coyotes, but the dog has bites on her leg.

I hope she'll be okay.

Coyotes will do that. Sometimes they lure pets off into the bushes and then the pack goes after them. Wildlife and pets don't mix well.

Poor baby!

I'm in suburban Long Beach, CA and they are all over around here and all neighboring cities. I never let my dog--a 17 pounder--go out into our back yard after dark without a close escort. Way back in 2012 a neighbor was walking her 25lb dog in the am before work and a coyote ran out from between two houses and attacked. Thankfully she was able to scare it away with not too much damage to her dog. The remains of cats that have been killed and semi-eaten have been found in several places on our block.

So their numbers have just kept increasing and the local cities will not do anything about it. Anytime a group of pet owners goes before the city council to ask for help, the animal rights people show up and intimidate the council people, so that's the end of it. Before covid there was a SoCal park that had to close to the public for several months due to people being bitten. At least in that case they did do some trapping to remove the offenders.

she was surrounded by 3 coyotes. Thankfully the sound of of my 12 gauge shotgun scared them off. I have lost several outdoor cats over the years and I suspect that was because of coyotes.

I've heard of one getting into someone's fenced in yard and taking a Yorkie, who was never seen again.
